A bit out of context in this thread but is there evidence of this?

Yes, look at the last post in the Eason thread.

does he have any OC/playcalling history?
I don’t believe so. However, he has transformed the running game as the running game coordinator, so he obviously knows how to draw up some plays. Additionally, he is a good OL coach. My only reservation is developing QB’s. Maybe Richt could take on some of that responsibility?

Please no. Doesn’t he run a spread offense? I know he was successful at Duke, but they ran a lot of shotgun, 5 wide sets. I don’t think this hire would solidify Eason’s commitment, because he wants to play in a Pro-Style offense. I think Roper would be a bad hire. JMO
I would do everything I could to maintain continuity on offense, and CWF would serve that purpose.

No, no, no. We can do better than Florida's leftovers.
I still like the idea of the Falcon's Glenn Thomas who was a candidate for Okie State OC a couple of years ago.
QB and WR background at the pro level with the Ravens and Falcons. Almost certain to be let go with the Smitty regime.

I guess it is kinda like asking if a CEO is responsible for one of his divisions underperforming or is it the fault of the division VP? Then you have to decide if corporate policy and budget shortcomings had a hand in the make up of the overall staff for the division and their ability to do their jobs...
I understand that, and agree with culpability, IF you believe the assembled staff to be sub par, and that the staff is sub par because of decisions from the AD...
I don't think Jeff believes that to be the case, ergo, Nine-Win Face bears the blame...

Lincoln Riley or bust. Let's get a young up and coming offensive coordinator that is innovative. He does like to run more spread concepts but that is great with a guy like Nick Chubb and all the young receivers we have coming in it could be fun to watch.

We were still good enough to beat UF and the USC game just came down to poor execution. You could argue about the suspensions but that's just semantics.

Why would we want Bill napier? Didn't he fail miserably at Clemson?

Greg Roman or bust.

Since Eason has said he wants to be in a pro-style offense, would that affect him?

No thanks
The 49ers offense has been mediocre at best. Matter of fact, they looked much worse this season than any season I can ever remember. Keep in mind, he is a Harbaugh follower.
Posted on 12/23/14 at 8:56 am to Prettyboy Floyd
Yes they've had a bad year this season but he's had success before and the nfl is a different animal than college. Plus he's had experience coaching one of the best qbs to play the game recently.

Obky because his is consistently ranked at the best recruiter in the country by espn. Sure he didnt do well at Clemson but the guy has worked with numerous different offensive minds in the 4-5 years since. I guess people dont grow and learn though. Getting Napier would allow UGS to put the state of Georgia on lock down from a recruiting stand point and look at the Job Richt did with developing Bobo into the play caller he was. You think Bobo was this good whem he first started or acquired this greatness on his own???

Richt was transitioning from play calling at the time. Richt will NOT hire an OC that he has to teach
Posted on 12/23/14 at 9:56 am to history88
Perhaps he has learned and grown, but that's a coin flip and honestly there are better candidates out there. Richt doesn't have the kind of time to groom someone else and frankly I don't want someone that has to learn on the job.

Promote Will Friend. He has improved our running game tremendously, he’d also provide stability to current and future players. He lacks play calling, but I think having a former OC at HC, CMR, the learning curve wouldn’t be as steep.
I hardly would say I even like the guy as OL coach and now we are promoting him to OC? No. frick that. I do not want to watch another homegrown OC. And if we were going to go the lazy route I'd rather deal with BMac's learning curve. Not Friend.

That has more to do with Kaepernick's (in)ability to play QB from the pocket than it does Roman's coaching ability. When Roman was allowed to let Kaepernick run loose, that offense was dangerous and frightening. When he was given a mandate to keep Kaepernick in the pocket (because of the NFL allowing QBs to get hit on option plays even if they gave the ball off), it neutered his playcalling because Kaepernick blows from the pocket.
Give Roman a QB like Eason and the skill players that UGA has and I think he would be pretty damn good.

Honestly, you have me curious and looking into Napier

1) Idk, man, I like Kurt Roper. I think he was handed a disaster at UF. I won't go into it but I knew someone who interviewed there a few years ago for the offensive staff. Basically said that people were saying no because they saw the offense at practice and thought "holy shite, there's no way we can fix this in time to keep Will here." I like Roper. I don't know how much I want the spread. But I would be happy with Roper.
2) frick Nuss, agreed.
3) frick promoting from within. So very, very lazy
4) I am totally only the Lincoln train

Clay Helton could be a possible fit

Spread offenses are nice and flashy when they hang giant numbers on shite teams, but they never win championships unless they can run some elements of power football with the QB like Newton or Tebow did. I would rather stick with the pro style offense we have and find someone who can run it.
