Mason blows but Richt's philosophy is that he would rather have a quarterback who makes no mistakes and no big plays over one who might make big plays AND mistakes.
Unfortunately today Mason continued to add little...but he also made some mistakes.
I think they ought to start playing Ramsey or Bauta where they can and see if it motivates Mason to take his game up a notch. Of course if the problem is mostly his weak arm and low velocity throws, not much can be done about that.

This.
There were a few throws today that Tevin Washington could have thrown harder. You can't really coach up arm strength, and Mason's today was really bad.
And on the other hand, we get our deep ball threat guys back next week. Mitchell and JSW can burn just about anybody, but can Hutson get it there?

Personally I say for now keep Mason as QB mainly due to our season not yet being completely dead and sadly as bad as Mason is he gives us the best chance to win.
However if we lose another game we should pull Mason for the rest of the year and let Ramsey or Bauta take snaps the remainder of the year so as to get experience for next year.

The thing that bothers me the most is the interceptions were terrible passes. Not good shots against good coverage but just really bad. Plus he doesn't ever extend the play. Just tucks after a couple of seconds.

no...he can't,,,and his delivery is obvious and takes forever to progress...

I was surprised at how weak some of the long throws were...on one of those picks Conley and the defender both had to stop and wait for the ball. That's just bad.

Jefferson, I am as Kool aid as they come, but you have got to look at the situation. UGA has to make some changes personnel wise in order to maximize our chances of winning the east and the Natty.

he knows...he's just stubborn to change

My question is this: In high school, Mason set passing records. Senior year at Lassiter alone, he threw for something like 4500 yards and 50+ TDs.
What the heck kind of offense was it? Dink and dunk???

In Mason's defense, Conley needed to play better "defense" on that pass. A receiver's first job is to make sure the ball doesn't get intercepted.

Considering the longest pass Mason attempted today was around 25 yards (and fell a good 8 yards short of the receiver), I really don't see what good getting Mitchell and JSW back will do. So much talent is going to waste this season just because Mason "knows the playbook."

his receivers had really really reaaaaallllly long arms!

Agreed...but if Mason had the arm or accuracy ( who knows which) that would've been a big play. It looked like Conley had his guy beat down the sideline.

@SethEmerson: Chris Conley took the blame for Hutson Mason's second INT. Conley said it wasn't a fly route, so Mason didn't underthrow it.
Noticing a trend

I would take Joe Cox over Mason at this point! Mason's arm is so weak!

I started the thread for discussion, but I'll chime in, too.
I think we stick with Mason until we lose another conference game (if we do). Mason has done fairly well at managing the offense, regardless of his arm strength. I don't know if getting our best receivers back next week will make a difference, but it might, so I'm willing to see what we do with them.
With that said, if we do happen to lose again, I think we ought to start giving Ramsey and Bauta a lot more PT and getting them some preparation for next season.
Either way, I think we ought to put Bauta in a few snaps a game (short-yardage situations?) to add a little more variety to our running game, which is pretty stale, IMO. Gurley is a man-beast but our run game is pretty predictable, and without a deep threat, defenses will continue to stack the box and dare us to throw it.

And I ask this in all sincerity..
Why not put Ramsey in before a conference lost...we are winning games with our ground attack...either of our backups can hand the ball off.....
The best defense is a good offense...teams need to respect our ability to throw down the field...
