I'm not a paying member of 247 so all I can see is the blurb. I know that all UGA and SEC fans are pulling for Nick and that he has tons of support. I just hope that Nick is as smart as Gurley was and that he doesn't try to do too much too early in rehab.

Even like a day after it happened they said it was about a 12 month recovery. If we're to assume he'd go pro after his junior year, he'd still have a handful of games to play next year if he wanted to.

Now that things are "way better" than expected, and knowing his superhuman body type and work ethic...yes he will undoubtedly play in '16.

Good I know some were speculating he wouldn't play again until his rookie NFL season. Didn't know what many figured the recovery time would be, but I am sure Chubb will surpass it because of what you listed.

Here's to hoping he is at full strength come UNC.

No, "some" weren't. One bleacher report fricktard did. Further proving they should never be listed to. Our actual medical doctors and coaching staff this whole entire process has always said he'd be back next year.

Apparently so...
Doctors reported on Thursday... "When we opened up Nicks knee, his torn ligaments forcefully removed the surgical tools from our hands and repaired themselves. Nick then willed the open flesh to suture itself."

This. Tired of seeing all these people acting like his career is over. He will get back on the field.

Let's hope he's smarter, actually, so he can avoid any stupid suspensions if/when he comes back

I don't think people thought his career was over...just that he would miss at least half of next season and just sit out to get a full shot at the NFL

Great news.

If it takes 12 months to recover, that makes the Fla game the earliest he could come back. Any earlier and he increases the risks he will damage his knee again. He needs to make sure he is fully recovered so he can play in the NFL. He has already given everything for GA so he has nothing to prove. If I were his parents, I would tell him he does not want end up like Marcus Lattimore. If he is going to be hurt again (hopefully not), he should only risk it after he has secured his financial future. Unless we are undefeated next year with a chance at a NC, why would he play another down for GA. Somehow I do not believe we will be undefeated at this time next year.

Agree, the kid and his future should be his No 1 priority. Even if his draft stock slipped, he'd still be financially secure.

I still think his career at Uga is over. At least it should be.

I'm not sure why folks are expecting Chubb to be back next year simply because his surgery went well. He still tore three ligaments and had cartilage damage. Look at Marshall's situation...he tried to come back at some point the season following his injury and he was completely ineffective. It basically required about 18 months to truly get back. It seems like it would make more sense for Chubb to take a medical redshirt next season. Then he would have the option to play for UGA fully healthy in 2017. But the question is, why would he do that rather than simply participate in the NFL combine in February of '16 and get drafted next spring.

I think he would have to have a near miraculous recovery to make it worth it for him to play in any games next season.

If this was just an ACL injury then there would be no doubt in my mind he could be back early in the year next year, however this was a lot worse obviously. Not only does he have to get physically healthy to get back on the field but then he would need a lot of practice time to get his timing down and back in game shape. Hearing that the surgery went well is great but people need to be cautiously optimistic going forward and realize that he still might not play here again.

Hightower at Bama destroyed a knee and played the next season.
