Not a knock on Nirvana...I just don't get it.
Clearly you don't.
If you want to start a thread making fun of Kurt Cobain lyrics, go for it. I'll help you lead the charge. But, it's irrelevant to this conversation.
Here are some more lame stupid simpleton lyrics from an early hit by another global Game-Changer.....
"Let me tell you something.....
I want to hold your hand.
I want to hold your haaaand...
I want to hold your hand.
I want to hold your haaaaaand!"
They were called the Beatles.
News flash: Rock n roll bands are started by kids. And their music is mostly listened to by kids. Get over yourself.

Wouldn't you say that by '91 the alternative cat was already out of the bag. I mean Nirvana was there with the harder, Seattle sound but REM, B52's, The Cure, Jane's Addiction, Chili Peppers, etc. and the other alternative bands we're doing this as soon or sooner weren't they?
The above mentioned bands were some of the first "alternative" bands to make it to the main stream. The differnece is, they were sharing the charts with White Snake. Seriously, you would hear WHite Snake and then Orange Crush on 96 Rock.
After Nirvana, it was all Alternative bands on mnay of the stations and many, like 99X totally changed formats to get on the train.
Pear Jams 10 was released like 2 months before Nevermind.... but it didnt catch on til after Nevermind exploded....

Shampoo is better. I go on first and clean the hair.
Conditioner is better. I leave the hair silky and smooth.
