Oh yeah, thats right...because our original goal was Atlanta.

I was speaking in more realistic terms....where Charlotte or Nashville or, in a really good year, Tampa was our real goal...in that world Tennessee doesn't matter....

Wrong.

Again, in the world of tempered expectations (or, as some would call it, reality) losing this game does not keep us out of Charlotte or Shreveport....

You might be right about Cal but they had their moments too.

I'm not going to be the delusional fan here. If we win, it will be very very close. This team went into Gainesville, and should have won the game. Something Ole Miss who was unable to do.

We went into Gainesvile? You really know your shite just like Germandawg!

wtf are you talking about? Obviously it matters, there's no metric by which it doesnt' matter. It's a game against an SEC east rival that we are tied with all time. Also not sure if you've noticed, but it's early october and we only have 1 loss. All our goals are still on the table...likely? No, not likely. But still attainable.

To say UT doesn't matter is just absolutely fricking stupid.

That doesnt take away the meaning of the game.

Also Not sure why you are including 2 very different bowl games. One is for a bad team, the other replaced the peach bowl.

While Germandawg is an idiot, what JC was saying is that UT went to Gainesville and should have won the game. Not us.

I understand your angst but I will guarantee you that if we lose this game there will be, by Wednesday next week, a bunch of posters who will be claiming we still have a shot at the playoffs.

Does it really matter if we lose this game? The difference between us winning this game and winning out (not going to happen) or losing this game and winning out is Orlando and Tampa...at best....is there really that big a difference?

If we truly had a shot at winning the SEC and making the playoff then yes, this game would matter a great deal. But the only possibility of this happening is mathematical....and I have a mathematical chance of winning the lottery. It is a LOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG shot and I play anyway but pretending like forgetting to but a ticket one week makes a difference is ridiculous.

SO what is the difference between Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Nashville or Shreveport, at the end of the day? Every one of them is indicative of a season where you did not meet your initial goal, if you are one of the better teams in the SEC East (I don't know that Vandy realistically sets winning the division as a goal). We have beaten UT pretty regularly in the past few years....has it made any difference? 2 times in 33 years it did....25 other times the game had no bearing at all on anything other than our going to one of many second tier bowl games spread out across the southeast....

again, if we had a realistic shot at the SEC and the playoff then yes, by all means this would be the next installment of a series of important games....even with the loss last week. Our having no real shot to win the East, let alone the SEC, reduces the importance of this game to one of spectacle alone....it is good entertainment, and that is all...

Dude - we get it. Every single one of your posts is the same recycled negativity. You post the same stuff no matter what the topic is.

I can't read more than a couple sentences of any of his essays. After that, all I hear is a loud shrill sound like when the emergency weather broadcasting system interupts a tv program to test their alert sirens..

Be glad. He made a long winded case recently that Auburn has a far better football history than us.

If it doesnt matter to you, then you aren't a big UGA fan.

Huge difference between 6-6 and top 10.

Germandawg, face reality. You are probably not a zillionaire. And, you are probably not God's gift to women. And, you are probably not a genius. So, does it really make a difference whether you live or die? Probably not. Rest in peace.
