His best offer behind Ole Miss was either Wake Forest or Air Force. Ole Miss just found a really good player that no other big power 5 team did. Can't put that on Richt IMO.

Not to mention all the talent we have at TE.

I'm actually extremely happy that CKS is pissed off- he should be. That anger is passion, a passion that he's trying to instill into his players.

Couldn't be more pleased to see emotion out of the coach! Wanted to see this from CMR for years.

I agree. He's apparently having problems getting some of the kids to put the effort into practice that he expects. His job is to change this.

As far as the media goes WGAS. They feel entitled to unlimited access to everything and responses to any stupid question they come up with. 24 hr coverage is too much.

"Coach - have you considered rotating players on the OL?"

No dipshit - I'm sure that never occurred to them.

Anyone who played football in at least High School knows that coaches get angry when you frick up...and telling a kid who is fricking up that that is why they are not playing is far from angry...its the truth. I truly believe that had whoever he was talking to performed better at practice, they would play. He is trying to drive the team. Its what a good coach should do. Nothing got me more pumped when I played high school ball than a high energy coach who beat your arse when you sucked, but would praise the hell out of you when you did good. The reason coaches get angry is because they see the potential and want you to get there...it doesn't happen for some guys with out a fire lit under their arse.

I'm a coach...and this is a legit post.

Chip Towers covered CKS as a player and I believe he
knows a thing or 2 about GA FB and about CFB in general. Seth Emerson is also a guy who's damn good at what he does. Neither of these guys has an ax to grind with UGA or KS.They aren't Mark Brandley type douchbags

You mean like Dominick Sanders?

Some coaches do a very good job of knowing what fits their system like Gary Pinkel and Charlie Strong, and those guys can generally do a very good job of developing talent, regardless of where you get it.

I'm fine with focusing more on in-state guys, but what if that caused us to miss out on someone like Isaiah Mckenzie.

Again, I'm fine with finding these gems of 3-star players, but stats back up that the higher a player is rated the more likely they are to be successful at the collegiate and professional level. I want our team filled with those guys, even if one or two end up being busts.

Agree with this pretty much. I've long been a proponent of "stars aren't everything" *but* that doesn't mean we shouldn't be loading up on 4-5*'s at the expense of failing to evaluate 2-3* guys that maybe don't get the same coverage/go to all the camps. There was a solid article that helped illustrate the linkage between recruiting at an elite level and performance on field here that got shared on tRant the other day. Batting average on 4-5* is higher than 3* no matter how you slice it.

Strong inherited a dumpster fire at UT but he's gradually turning it. If he can survive this year and bring in another top 10 class, he's in good shape as I feel like the rest of the BigXII is regressing to the mean.

To think that UGA somehow made a huge gaffe by not getting Engram is a little silly. We took in higher rated TEs over the last few years. Their performance on field has been more of a product of poor scheme than anything else. Engram has been a very good TE at Ole Miss and their offensive scheme is very friendly to *all* pass catchers. They have talented and *big* WRs that create their own mismatches, so Engram typically is seeing single coverage by LBers. Kelly has the arm to get it where it needs to go. Hopefully we'll see better usage of (and performance from - drops no bueno) our TEs going forward.

Also, +1 to whoever mentioned that Ole Miss has been recruiting at a high level. Methods aside, they've been bringing in pretty elite talent now for the past few seasons. Their batting average on some of the underrated guys has also been high. You're seeing now though that they've not recruited the RB position as well as they'd hoped and they're thinner at a few positions now that some of the 2013 class has cycled out. Will be interesting to see which direction they go between possible sanctions and what this season holds for them.

The vibe I get is that he's pissed with the personnel he's been dealt. I think he has a clear design in his head of what this team needs to look like, the talent they need to acquire, and the personalities that fit. I think he's very frustrated dealing with players who don't fit that mold and that he had no part in recruiting. During these pressers it's like he just wants to tell all the reporters that he thinks half his team truly sucks and they don't deserve to be there but, obviously, he can't do that.

Truth!

Their entitlement mentality is beyond annoying sometimes. I really enjoy most of their articles, but if a coach wants to restrict access to the team, players, and practice, then shut the hell up. Find something else to write about. Radi for example, I enjoy all his stuff, but his small bitchfest on twitter the other day about restricted access to Jacob Eason was childish. Get over it, and move on.

I agree. Raid was on the radio yesterday talking about we talk to jacob for three years prior to coming to college. He said now Kirby and the college must think Freshman are unable to talk to the media. Radi needs to stop getting panties in a wad. If Kirby so no access to Freshman. Accept the rule and move on.

I understand Radi being upset because this interferes with his job and he needs quotes from our boy wonder QB to draw clicks. At the same time, I think its best he doesn't talk to the media. The QB position is as much mental as it is physical. We don't need him talking to the media and becoming a head case due to the pressure and possibly extra fame the media provides. I like the restrictions, and as long as they're winning, I don't care if I hear a single interview from Eason for the next four years.

There could be FAR worse situations to deal with other than UGA in 2016. Inherited 2 top 10 recruiting classes and had a hand, along with CMR,in a 3rd (Including the best FR QB in the country)
Sorry,McElwain had a pretty easy time adjusting along with Mahlzan in their first years. They seemed thankful for the oppurtunity and if a first time HC is pissed about taking the head job at UGA than he sure as Hell needs to reevaluate WTF he's doing here.

Having said that,I HIGHLY doubt he's pissed about the situation or the HC posistion. Look at Saban,he's always pissed no matter what the situation.

Ok, let's get some things straight. I never said I had an issue with players yelling at players or being demanding or any of that.
