All I asked is who was looking better in the vacuum of the 2018 and 2019 Spring practices at UGA.

And according to the majority of the reports (at least the ones I’ve read) it’s Fields. Mathis has looked good sometimes, but there have also been times he looks like he’s nowhere near ready with some terrible decision making.

Like Fields not staying composed and hitting a streaking tight end on the fake vs Bama.

Have you ever played sports beyond little league?

Did you see the video of him walking off the field at the USCe game? Were you at the LSU game watching him isolate himself on the bench?

That is all I need to know.

Just because he follows a few guys out of 100 doesn't mean shite.

That's how I back up a statement.

Have even seen enough of him to make any definitive judgements other than he's raw in a few areas?

Well, can you tell me any reason why we should continue to waste the time and effort discuss a guy who left months ago and is no longer with the program? Does it accomplish anything constructive other than filling this forum up with useless bullsh*t?

There was no streaking tight end on that play. There was a streaking pass rusher that F'd everyone up though. Thats how Bama beats us, by pressing our passers in crunch time.

I talked about Fields plenty when he was here. I don't think you'll find much discussion from me about Fields after he left, and certainly not recently.

Yes, there was, take a short drop and he was on a flag route wide open.

He wanted to run the moment it broke down.

That wasn’t exactly what happened, but yes Fields made a bad decision there.

Seriously, how many of y’all would take Mathis over Fields this season on the field?

I’m fine with Fields being gone. I feel like he was a distraction to our team. But to say Mathis is a better QB is legitimately dumb. Go watch his film. He has poor fundamentals, and isn’t as good of a runner or thrower as Fields.

He has a high upside, but so much of it has to do with expectations. Fields didn’t live up to his in Athens. Mathis won’t have that same issue.

Honestly feel Fields got overrated because of his ability to escape the pocket due to a poor oline in hs, he was way bigger than the average defender so he could make them miss. Arm talent wise, he extended plays to the point they broke down and throw to wide open wrs.

Mathis was overlooked playing ball in Michigan, I like what I see so far from his ability to get players lined up right, arm strength, and speed. Needs to add 15 pounds. Think he can be a slash type player As he grows into the the full time SEC qb role. So athletic, a true weapon. Really completely different from the bizarre role we used Fields in.

Fields earned the publicity that he held in high school.

But that doesn't make him a better QB than Mathis. If a QB can't get past his first read, that is a serious challenge to the offense. And a less talented thrower can be more effective.

As for running, Mathis is much quicker and faster. He probably is better scrambling from the pocket than Fields. Fields is a better goal line threat (which is a big plus to Fields' game. Hell... he was probably our best goalline weapon in 2018).

I would. Mathis has shown he doesn’t panic in the pocket, Fields has proven over and over he does. If Mathis has decent pocket presence this early in his career it’s only gonna improve from here. I’ll take Mathis all day long over JF.

You said nothing about Fields in the locker room. You backed up nothing because, like me, you've never been in the locker room.

What Fields did on the field after the USC game should be all you need to know, but yes, I can confirm there were issues in the locker room. Not with everyone. The guy who should be commended is Fromm... he kept on keeping on. Even though he was losing reps to someone who did not earn them.

If Fields matures and learns to read the field, he could be a really good QB. He still ain’t there. After the shite he pulled, I’m shocked anyone who is a UGA grad or supporter defends him... unless it’s just some pride thing.

I’m not remotely defending him and I was one of the few people (along with FooMan) who have always been staunch Fromm defenders. I just think we’re getting way way way ahead of ourselves with Mathis by comparing the two.

Fields in the locker room is a reflection of what he is doing on the side lines.

Its one in the same...he isn't different on that bench vs. in the locker room.

That is how I know you have no idea what you are talking about.

You can pretend have a love fest for Fields but this team is better without him.
