this is about Leach v. Mullen.
It wasn't but I guess it seems like it. I think Leach is a fantastic coach. I also think Wittingham could be successful here.
I lived in Seattle for about 8 years and I can tell you what Leach has done with Wazzu is special.

There are a lot of guys that could be successful here. Hell, RICHT has been and IS successful here, depending upon where you draw that line. I don't ever mean to denigrate the man; he's been a good fit, and done great things for the program, given where he found it. I just think he's overstayed. For me, its been a decade too long, but I felt long ago that we had seen the best of him.
I'm now in the Fulmer, Bowden, Beamer mode of thinking: thank you for your service, but you do not get to tear down what you helped to build up. You have been well compensated for your service and have no "rights" beyond that.
Let's give the keys to the 'Vette to someone better suited to drive it at the pace we all believe it was built to run. Wittingham? Let's talk. Leach? Ain't happening, but the HRD can dream, can't he? Someone else? Let's find out!
Exciting times, should we choose that path...

I remember when he took the job, I was like "Washington State? Who the frick is that?"
Turns out, that's where Dennis Erickson came from, and he had a successful two year stint there in the 80's before bolting to Miami. They've also had another guy who was hired away earlier this millennium.
I guess they do love their football there, but we will find out how much when the big schools start knocking at the end of the season...

Wow, I did not know that much about Leach pre-TT. That is awesome.
He was Mumme's OC down here at VSU in the 90's. Leach was the start of VSU being great, and coached Chris Hatcher to two(?) Harlon Hill awards. He put the school on the Division II map, and it continues to this day.
As an aside: If you look at Mumme with vs. without Leach, you'll notice a glaring difference. Seriously, they guy is a phenomenal coach.
My favorite Mike Leach clip.

Like who?He might get an offer from Miami can't think of any other school that would want him.
Plus he has a huge buyout.

What's the buyout? That would limit the Kentucky's of the world...

Not as big as I thought $2.5 million. If they fire em (which they can't afford to do)they owe em $6.5.Thought it was the other way around.
Thw only school I've heard about that has him on their radar is Maryland and they certainly can afford it,

You have no idea of how horrible WSU had been historically up until the day Leach took over, do you wayx?
They were terrible before Mike PRice came along for sure, but he is the one that built that program up. don't act like Leach, with one good year, is the person who resurrected WSU. Leach has done well this season, sure, but oregon didnt have Vernon adams and the two arizona schools arent really elite this year.
quote:
It's safe to say that Leach has turned the corner with that program. It's a goddamn miracle, and everyone except butt hurt Mark Richt fans are amazed.
amazed? really? turned the corner? after only one decent year in the first four years? is that what you want out of UGA's next coach?

Talk shite about Portland State all you want
You asked for more reasons why I wouldnt like him besides portland state and I gave them to you. Not sure why youre trying to build that strawman against me.

That said, his two gigs as HC have been at traditional NON POWERS, and turned both of them into players, if not contenders.
contenders in regards to what? the cotton bowl? again, he has never played for a conference championship and only has one 10 win season under his belt.

Mike Price had been extinct from WSU for a fricking decade by the time Leach was hired. In the decade since, they were 39-69 overall, and 9-40 over the final four.
Keep reaching, wayx. You are looking like a straight up hater with no real reason besides the stink on your own shoe. The program has no money, plays in one of the smallest NCAA stadiums, and has little recruiting incentives.
They were, in short, a goddamn dumpster fire.
As to the rest of your diatribe, you keep bringing up Portland State, not me. That's your strawman. Own it.
I get it. Your going down with your captain, St. Mark. You feel for him like I did about Dooley when I was a younger man. Dooley WAS the Dawgs to me. I was blind. But...now I see. You will too.

That ain't shite. Someone will come knocking. Leach may surprise me and stick around in the Pac-whateverthefrickitisnow. He may feel his style football is better suited for the wrong coast.

After Price left around 2003 or so, Paul Wulff took over and turned Washington State into what Kansas is right now. They were dreadful. Leach had absolutely nothing to work with when he got there.
Price got to the Rose Bowl because he took chances on Ryan Leaf and Michael Black, and it paid off. I don't see a QB of Leaf's caliber on that roster right now, because those guys don't really go to Washington State.
I don't want Leach at UGA, but to act like he's a bad coach is just flat out retarded. TT and WSU aren't the two easiest places to recruit.

and since Leach was hired they are an amazing 20-28.

Tom Herman is doing pretty well at Houston in his first year. Chad morris has taken huge strides in his first year at SMU. It has taken Leach 4 years to have a winning season at WSU.
Even when he was at TTU, a Texas school with plenty of opportunities for recruiting, he never broke through to win anything significant.

you implied, with this quote, that the Portland State loss was all that I had against Leach, which is not true at all.

Like I said earlier, I'm all for replacing Richt if we can find someone better, not sure why you're trying to put words in my mouth. I just think that believing that person is Mike Leach is asinine. Imagine Mike LEach's best team against Saban's worst team at Bama. It would be a fricking massacre.
Seriously, could you imagine his offense doing well against 8 SEC opponents a year?

I never said LEach was a bad coach...
he just isn't a good coach, and he is far, far from bein an elite coach. And if you want Richt fired, why would you hire someone like him who has a gimmick offense and who has little to none success in big games?

I do too which is funny to me because he said - I think in 2005 - that he would retire before he felt like he was unwelcome. I think it was 2005 because I remember thinking he was wearing out his welcome as Pat White was easing it in without even spitting on it in the Sugar Bowl.
I like Richt. If my son wanted to play football when he was old enough I would love Richt to be his coach. That being said....he needs to leave Georgia.

One of these things is not like the others and, in your blind ramblings, you seem to have missed it.
I'll give you a shot at figuring it out.

How surprised are you? Honestly? We're not good. We've known that since Alabama. Georgia Southern is good. They're very disciplined and play a brand of football that closes the gap in talent significantly. I thought it would be about a 10 pt win but I am not surprised with how they played. Us playing like shite along with them playing one of their better games of the season brought us to overtime.
Not surprised at all...and that is another sympton of the disease that ails UGA football. We are not surprised that we have barely avoided a tie, or even worse, a loss, to Georgia Southern.....
