Point taken. However I did start the thread for the particular reason listed in my post above, so I though I would at least share.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for Hunter Atkinsons future, but I think it's time we step aside and let these men show us why these gals are deserving of our support and admiration. Your job here is done.

No worries. At least it was derailed for a worthy cause.

Word is now official that Atkinson will not return to Athens for football. He is pursuing other "career opportunities".

Wonder how much he will charge for doing my landscaping? I'm looking for a reasonably priced landscaper.

Richt apparently is working hard to help Atkinson make the right decision.

He gone. Richt isn't playing around.

The way I've read it is he's still going to school at UGA just not as a football player. If he's going to pursue other opportunities he's probably (hopefully) majoring in something that would require a lot of time, effort, and dedication and couldn't afford to balance a football and coursework schedule. So if that's the situation, he's probably not going to be cutting your yard anytime soon.

He will be cutting yards. He left school altogether...

There is a little bit to the story. End of the day, he is just a kid. Good luck to him.

Don't know what his future held on the gridiron, but it's sad to see him pass up the opportunity for a free education. Hope the broad is worth it, if that is indeed the reason he left. Something tells me down the road he is going to harbor quite a bit or resentment toward her for convincing him to waste this opportunity(again, that is assuming she is the reason he left).

All undergrad education is free at uga, if you are a georgia resident.

Tired of this "free education" nonsense.

Iteradastin....so hope now pays for room and board.etc...As well as books and classes

and football players are notoriously good students who would all qualify for hope..As well as retain that free edumatation....with no special assistance

just saying... correct me if I'm wrong

You're assuming he would be accepted to UGA without being a football player. Maybe I should have provided the caveat that he is passing up the opportunity to get a free UGA education.

free UGA education.

What exactly is a bachelor degree worth from UGA?

Not how much it costs... tell me how much it is worth.

K so here's the deal, kid got home sick and wanted nothing more than to come home. He has no plans on attending any other college at this point. I just don't think he was cut out for it. I wish him the best and I'd much rather get him gone now than for him stick around for the next 4 years and waste a scholarship.

Not implying that you didn't go to UGA, but if you did, then you would know what it was worth (I'm not just talking monetarily). It is the quintessential college experience. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else, and it seems a waste to bail on that. Like it or not, a degree from UGA will carry more weight than from other places (not to mention some of the connections you can make at a place like UGA). You can't assign a value to a bachelor degree from any place, but there is a reason they rank universities. That is not to denigrate other universities, but some places carry more prestige than others. That's the reality.
