I am not saying Carter didn't mess a few things up but to achieve that office by definition says you are great. More the achievement of getting to the office than the actions taken there.

Man....did we miss John Pemberton?

How about we step it back a bit to Sequoya.

I think carter was the last president we had that didn't drop bombs and whatnot on some poor, ill-equipped foreign bastards, so there's that.

But seriously, the answer is lewis grizzard.

Gram Parsons, RIP

Senator Richard B. Russell for being the only Warren Commission member to publicly state that the assassination report was a total crock of shite.

Crawford Long, a UGA grad from Danielsville, was the first to use ether for anesthesia. Really opened the door to all types of surgery once more reliable anesthesia was a possibility.

The novelist Harry Crews. A Feast of Snakes, Body, & A Childhood: The Biography of a Place are outstanding books about life and the crazy people in rural Georgia. He wrote many more books and short stories but those 3 are especially good. He's from Alma, GA.

+1000

I picked up one of those State of Georgia tourist magazines they put out that has all the different regions broke up and the sights to see and things to do in each one the other day and was all kinds of nostalgic...I will never move outside of this state again...took a drive from FT. Valley to Camden the other day cause I was up there for my kids baseball game and went through Hawkinsville and then on down through Baxley to Brunswick on 341...it was breath taking...the sun setting over the fields and the haze of the dust coming of off the tractors plowing for the spring plant...also took a drive to Aladamnbama to see the inlaws for Easter...took 82 from Waycross to Eufala...beautiful country....this state is awesome!!
