The over 40 crowd likely remembers those Marist - Thomas County Central matchups from the 90s.

Worth County split 2 state championship games with Marist before TCC rose up. Unfortunately, our program fell off a cliff in the early 90's and hasn't ever got back up. And I'm 58 so, I meet the over 40 requirement!

That Cedar Grove-Calvary Day game will be a battle.

If Prince Avenue makes it to the finals, I think this would be the fourth straight year. They've won two of the last three.

Their QB, Arron Philo, has committed to GT.

It's possible we could have UGA vs GT/Vandergriff vs Philo matchups in the future.

That would be pretty cool for a Single-A private school to produce two state championship QBs who went on the be the starters at FBS in-state rivals.

I know that you're not supposed to look ahead, but Douglas Co vs TCC final would be something.

Friend of mine married a guy from Thomas county. I think he got two rings in that time period.

When did Bryan county become so good? 25 years ago we beat the shite out of them whenever we played them and we sucked.

Calvary has four P5 commits, maybe 5, and I’m sure Cedar Grove is loaded as always, including but not limited to Bo Walker.

My son played against them too about 12-15 years ago and yeah they were God-awful. Must be getting some growth from Chatham Co or something.

Won’t be playing small publics for state any more after this year

I’m not familiar with changes to the format. Please elaborate.

Starting in the 2024-25 school year, private schools that are in A, AA and AAA will still be integrated in with public schools in regular season region play, however, the public and privates will separate for state playoffs. A(D1), A(D2), AA and AAA public schools will still have separate state championships according to their respective classifications (4 state championships). A, AA and AAA privates will compete against each other for only one state championship.

I was at both the 1996-97 semifinals. Missed the 2002-03 ones. TCC also played and beat Marist during the regular season in 2012-13. All totaled, TCC is 7-1 vs Marist, lifetime. One of the very few schools to have a winning record vs. Marist with at least 5 meetings played between schools.

Did you forget that Worth and TCC played each other in both those 1986-87 semifinal games? Except back then it was called the ‘South Ga. Championship Game.’
