From Dawgnation...

quote:

Friday night, receivers coach Bryan McClendon said he had a group of six-to-eight players he would be comfortable using in a rotation. He didn’t outline the group, but acknowledged several who are set to contribute:

– Mitchell, McKenzie and Davis are obviously going to play.

– Sophomore Shakenneth Williams is also “absolutely” in the mix, McClendon said.

– Freshmen Terry Godwin and Michael Chigbu are ready to play too.

“We’ve gotta kind of see what all they can handle, and if this thing is going to be too big for them, especially as of right now at this age. Those two have shown for sure that it’s not,” McClendon said.

Godwin was a five-star recruit and has lived up to his billing in camp so far.

“Some guys are naturally born to play certain positions, and I think Terry was naturally born to play wide receiver,” McClendon said. “Things come natural to him. The game of football comes very easy to him.”

Chigbu, at 6-foot-2, offers the team a physical presence it’s missing with Chris Conley and Michael Bennett gone.

Really think Mitchell and Godwin are gonna wreck shite if they stay healthy. Only thing I'm worried about is how the new guys pick up blocking. Conley and Bennett were both pretty solid blocking downfield.

When you factor in both Blazevich and Rome as well, we should have a pretty formidable group. Hopefully McKenzie can stay healthy playing WR2 in addition to his special teams duties and the same goes for MM in general. Really going to need both of those guys this year to help out whoever our QB is.

I am really excited to see how our WRs to this season. I hope and pray that we can stay healthy (especially MM) and if we do I think they will be a very strong group. I also am worried about the blocking but I think once the new guys get some game experience they will pick it up fine.

Is Charlie Hegedus still here? If so, that was a complete waste of a scholly transfer. He actually got on the field for NC State and isn't even mentioned as being in the mix of kids who "can handle it" and are "ready to play".

Every year someone that nobody was talking about pre-season ends up showing out on the field and making himself famous.

Of course, now that we are talking about Hegedus, it kind of ruins it for him.
