Exactly. People who argue ATL are kidding themselves. I can't think of one rational reason to move it to ATL.

There are some people like Blackout Gatling from little big league who just "hate fun".

Those are the people that want it moved.

It was beautiful. And exactly although the others I have seen who want it moved are generally the Georgia fans who only watch it on TV and their one connection to the university was a bulldog t-shirt they bought from Wal Mart. They're convinced the administration is taking it up the arse by keeping it in JAX and hurting UGA by doing so. They wanted to blame our earlier failures on it being in JAX which was just covering up the real issues.

Not saying this poster is that guy but he's wrong and a majority of fans will agree.

I get it. I really do... You love your Jags. Why? I'll never understand, but that's for another thread.

However, your homerism is laughable. Jacksonville sucks. Period. I stay on Amelia Island every year for this game and that shite sucks too.

Bring this crap home. Rotate this game. I'm sick of having to plan a weekend at a shitty beach to watch a game played at a "neutral site."

There is nothing neutral about Jacksonville. There is shite for lodging and even worse facilities in that city. The landing was cute when I was 20, but most fans aren't 20.

Is it cool? Sure, but frick man... How about we bring it to Atlanta when the new stadium is complete? Historically, we get our asses KICKED in this series and I'm all for trying to do anything to even the playing field. Especially if it can save me money and bring the Dawgs closer to OUR fan base.

Just my .02

You are correct. Not to bring up a sore subject, but it fits in with the topic at hand...the majority of people who want it moved are probably 99% UGA fans, and of that 99%, probably 90% of those a)have never been or b)are so young that all they really know in their life is losing in jacksonville.

I feel QUITE certain that early/mid 20s UGA students who have gone the past few years are already excited about going back this year and wouldn't move it to ATL for anything.

This things are cyclical. We got our arses whooped in the 70s and 80s, we returned the favor in the 90s/00s, now it looks like things are going back the other way again. Jacksonville is the constant though. Geez just thinking about the tradition and the history that has played in that city in this rivalry gives me goosebumps. To change it would be directly spitting in the face of one of the things that makes college football so got damn great in the first palce.

Sounds like, to me, you're just a wet blanket. Maybe not in life but come on, guy, how is that beach shite? Why do so many disagree? Am I alone in thinking that the beach kicks arse and whatever else happens to be there is gravy?

And I have been to Amelia and it is nice. Also, my homerism is only laughable because of how bad JAX is and by no means do I think the jewel of N FLA is perfect. It has it's issues. Lots of them. But GA/FLA isn't one.

It's 50/50 and just about everyone will disagree about how much fun it is.

Then get an RV. They seem to love it. As do the fans who stay on Amelia or St Simons.
quote:

Sure, but frick man... How about we bring it to Atlanta when the new stadium is complete?

Because it makes no sense. If you are going to bring it ATL then you may as well just make it home and home. ATL offers no novelty and it already hosts a bowl game and the SECCG. Why on god's green earth would you take it to ATL and still sacrifice a home game when the system in place isn't broken whatsoever?
quote:

Historically, we get our asses KICKED in this series

If the series started in 1990.

JAX isn't the reason Georgia got it's arse kicked for so long. Didn't hurt them pre-spurrier.

Plenty of UGA fans in JAX and South GA.

If you hate the weekend then don't go and watch it on CBS. Let us 20 year old dick heads take your seats and get obnoxiously drunk after a day on the beach where we also were obnoxiously drunk

Except for the fact that tickets are evenly split and the stadium is literally half and half fan wise.

It's been played in Jax since 1933. Why don't you look up the series history from 1933 to now. Nobody has kicked anybody else's arse.

By the way, when you go on vacation do you stop at the last exit at the state line to get gas and snacks? You seem to have a big problem with spending a few hundo outside of your state. Not sure about your financial situation, but unless you're dropping bill gates type money on a 3 day weekend, you aren't really going to swing the local economy in another direction. I'm just curious if you take this stand on ALL out of state visits, or just this one time a year.

I loved JAX before going to UGA but having gone the past 4 years I wouldn't trade it for a thing. Some of the best memories of my entire life have been in JAX. It's an amazing time. I had a blast when I went all the time when I lived their in the 90s (too young to be pissed...yet) and '97 will always be cherished by me, 2004 was amazing and I was just a punk teenager in the RV camp, and 2010 sucked but 2011-13 more than made up for it.

Seriously couldn't agree more. UF even gets a raw deal IYAM. UGA students basically get spring break during the fall.

UGA leads 49-40-2...Historically this series goes in 20 year cycles, we survived the '90-'00's with a 7 game lead & are 3-1 so far into our new 20 year cycle...

since '10... 3-1

'90's-'00's... 3-17

'70's-'80's... 15-5

'50's-'60's... 7-12-1

'30's-40's... 15-3-1

'10's-20's... 6-2

The WLOCP is basically another Bowl Game for UGA fans... I shut my business down at noon on Wed before the game. Everyone I deal with knows it & expects it. I give my people 2 extra days of vacay so I can do this & it's worth erry penny. Been doing it for 35 years & hope to do it for 35 more...

The last thing I do when we leave our Hotel in Fernandina Beach is to go ahead & book next years lodging...

The history, uniqueness, tradition & the quality of games played & the events surrounding the game over the years make the WLOCP priceless...

Red River shoot out doesn't have shite on the Party & every UGA fan should embrace & cherish it... JMO...

You and twobits nailed it. It's simply not comparable to other series and that's just one of the many reasons the WLOCP is special. UGA is lucky in that some schools lack a rival and we have 3 awesome series and one as unique as this.

Agree.

I would have responded to your first quote, but your edited version is way more fun... Amelia Island beaches are terrible It's flat and hard as a rock. I can't answer for you being alone in your opinion, but a good friend of mine owns a bar on the Island and another buddies mother has worked at the Plantation ever since she retired from Delta so, I see more of the Islands possibilities than most. Amelia Island is nice. I guess. If you like upper level white trash Florida with shitty beaches/entertainment. Speaking of wet blankets... The tide proves that theory. You're correct there, my friend. Georgia Florida isn't one of the many issues, we agree there. However, I'm just saying it may be cool to bring the game to Atlanta every other year and make the Gators and their shite fan base travel up here. We have 10 times the entertainment that Jacksonville does.

quote:

It's 50/50 and just about everyone will disagree about how much fun it is.

And it would be 75/25 if the game was in Atlanta. Fact. So what? Did you have a point?

quote:

Then get an RV. They seem to love it. As do the fans who stay on Amelia or St Simons.

Why the frick would I want to do that? I travel down the St. Johns River on a tailgating machine that is way more fun than a trailer on wheels. I'm not an Alabama fan. This isn't NASCAR.

Because it makes no sense. If you are going to bring it ATL then you may as well just make it home and home. ATL offers no novelty and it already hosts a bowl game and the SECCG. Home and Home is exactly what I was saying. No novelty? You ever been? I've lived here 31 years and would much rather be in Atlanta than Jacksonville. Anyone that thinks Jacksonville is a better city than Atlanta has no idea what they are talking about. There is a reason this town hosts bowls and the SEC. The fans are here.

quote:

If the series started in 1990.

Which I imagine is right around the year you were born so, you didn't have to go through the Spurrier pains like the rest of us.

quote:

JAX isn't the reason Georgia got it's arse kicked for so long. Didn't hurt them pre-spurrier.

Sure didn't, but I bet you it would sway things even more in our favor if the game was rotated every year.

Plenty more UGA fans in Atlanta and the Suburbs. I get that you love your home state/city, I really do, but there is more to life than a shite arse town in one of the worst states in the Nation. Florida is a joke. Without tourism, you would just be the place where Liberals move to die. Works for me.

Yeah I don't understand the SECr mindset some seem to have where they enjoy not having rivals. I enjoy having the 3 big games we play in and then also hating USCe and UT.
