That's actually a strong argument(and I don't want it to leave Jax). Gator fans can't fill out a non-Miami BCS bowl or an SECCG. GA/FL in Atlanta would definitely be at least a 3/4 crowd split for us, probably significantly more in years they weren't top 15.

I would have responded to your first quote, but your edited version is way more fun... Amelia Island beaches are terrible It's flat and hard as a rock. I can't answer for you being alone in your opinion, but a good friend of mine owns a bar on the Island and another buddies mother has worked at the Plantation ever since she retired from Delta so, I see more of the Islands possibilities than most. Amelia Island is nice. I guess. If you like upper level white trash Florida with shitty beaches/entertainment. Speaking of wet blankets... The tide proves that theory. You're correct there, my friend. Georgia Florida isn't one of the many issues, we agree there. However, I'm just saying it may be cool to bring the game to Atlanta every other year and make the Gators and their shite fan base travel up here. We have 10 times the entertainment that Jacksonville does.

I still see absolutely no reason why to bring it to ATL when you may as well make it a home and home and bring the revenue back home. ATL isn't the same mystique and yea, it's a great host city and I am not refuting that. I am refuting messing with the tradition in JAX.

You said it was hardly a neutral site and Georgia is always half the stadium. You never once argued that UF fans wouldn't travel which despite how bad they did at the sugar bowl I'd be willing to bet they would come 50/50 to ATL too. At least in big years. Sometimes.

You want an advantage. Then home and home is your argument. And that argument is stupid too unless you wanna do like 2 out of 10 years a home and home. Then idk, maybe.
quote:

Why the frick would I want to do that? I travel down the St. Johns River on a tailgating machine that is way more fun than a trailer on wheels. I'm not an Alabama fan. This isn't NASCAR.

Don't knock it till you try it. I wanna retire and buy one of those money holes.
quote:

Home and Home is exactly what I was saying. No novelty? You ever been? I've lived here 31 years and would much rather be in Atlanta than Jacksonville. Anyone that thinks Jacksonville is a better city than Atlanta has no idea what they are talking about. There is a reason this town hosts bowls and the SEC. The fans are here.

JAX hosts bowls too but I am not arguing ATL > JAX in anything other than the site for GA/FLA. You're mistaking what I am saying for JAX being a better city. It isn't. But GA/FLA has a long standing history in JAX and a litany of activities. You like ATL? Good, the chick fil a and SECCG are there.
quote:

Which I imagine is right around the year you were born so, you didn't have to go through the Spurrier pains like the rest of us.

Ok, then you should have remembered that before then we were beating the dog shite out of UF's teams in JAX. And I grew up in JAX in the 90s so I'd say I went through the pains enough. At least IMO.
quote:

Sure didn't, but I bet you it would sway things even more in our favor if the game was rotated every year.

Negligible difference at best.
quote:

Plenty more UGA fans in Atlanta and the Suburbs. I get that you love your home state/city, I really do, but there is more to life than a shite arse town in one of the worst states in the Nation. Florida is a joke. Without tourism, you would just be the place where Liberals move to die. Works for me.

I am from ATL and currently live in Athens. I lived in JAX for 5 years from ages 5-10. If I am anything I am a GA homer and I love GA and agree FL can be dog shite. But JAX isn't NEARLY as bad as what you're saying for the GA/FLA game.

This isn't an argument about how great the wondrous city of Jacksonville is. It is an argument about why GA/FLA will never and should never leave.

Like I said, if we were hell bent on getting a pro-Georgia crowd then why would we not just bring it to Sanford, guarantee the majority, and keep the revenue?

As I already said I wouldn't be against every 2 out of 10 years doing a home and home but otherwise JAX is a great place to have it.

Well Jacksonville would be a 50/50 split, Atlanta would be 75/25. Would be 90/10 for us and 10/90 against us if we did home home. ATL and Jax we would never have more than the slightest of minorities. (so it would be a neutral game, then a "home" game for us. Pretty much just giving us the advantage in the series)

But I've had some great times in Jacksonville and don't want it to move. Lived a lot of my life in south GA and it was the easiest one to get to and was the one me and my family would go to every year with maybe a trip to Athens every 2-3 years.

So the crowd would be the only advantage. But if we wanted the crowd advantage then you may as well bring it to Sanford and let the university and town make money off of it. That's why I think ATL is a bad argument. We could also bring recruits to the game b/c I am pretty sure at neutral sites neither team can. So another reason for why if you wanna rotate then you may as well play it on the campuses.

Well crowd is the only factor of the game that really has any kind of effect on who wins. I don't buy the whole "our guys are tired from flying to Jacksonville while Florida gets to drive" argument. If anything flying is probably faster for us.

Crowd wise it would make more sense to do Atlanta-Jacksonville(since we either get a HFA or it's netural rather than having to play at BHGS every other year which is very hostile). And I think they currently make more money on it being in a neutral site since they get the money every year instead of every other so ATL-JAX would be better than home and home.

But I'm just trying to argue, Jacksonville is special to me and it's the highlight of my season every year.

I remember that game being at night as if were last year. I remember watching the ball thrown by Greene cut through the night sky before falling through T. Edwards wide open hands.

Also remember the stadium lights shining brightly down as George Foster ruined a potential scoring drive as he incurred a 15 yard penalty for bouncing up and down on the UF defender beneath him.

get some....to the guy...whats his name..gurley or whatever...you sir..are an idiot...research the history on why that game is in Jax in the first place...

and...frick some tailgating in ATLANTA...the one thing that JAX does right is provide ample tailgating areas...something that would be lacking if the game was in ATLANTA...

oh...and Go Jags bitch!!

You may have a point. How are the beaches in Atlanta?

That you do the same thing every fricking weekend.

Utter horseshite. Those tickets are sold by the school to season ticket holders and there are plenty of FU fans that live in Atlanta alone to fill up the Dome.

Again, utter horseshite. You clearly don't know what the frick you're talking about.

I will always remember Sean Jones for when he took that fumble vs UT for I wanna say 97 yards. UT was fixing to take the lead 14-13 and instead we go to half 20-7. Great game. I will always remember my dad and I losing it in the basement and Georgia going on to wax that sorry Vol arse

Best line ever from my Vol buddy as we sat in the UT student section

this is why i, and many others, don't want it moved...

South Georgia is a huge part of the fan base...Athens, while absolutely awesome and beautiful, is 5+ hours from me...GA/FLA in Jax is South Georgia's game....it was put in Jax for that very purpose...

nobody south of Warner Robbins wants the game in Atlanta...i promise you

That Monday after Terrence dropped that pass, I remember walking by him in front of the North Campus library and he wouldn't even hold his head up. That dude had mad death threats on him.

And that's truly a shame. From what I remember he was a great, humble kid who just messed up. He's not one of these "rah rah look at me" types you see littering today's game. Still holds a few SEC records too I believe.

You're exactly right, TwoBits. The Edwards are an awesome family and represent UGA extremely well

Teresa Edwards is one of the best women's b-ball players of all time, 5 time Olympian, 4 gold medals

Robert Edwards sadly had his NFL career cut short by injury. Current head coach at Greene County High School. Spoke to him around a year ago. Love that guy.

I think 4 years of Murray is enough and I have said for years I'd really prefer they didn't go that route. My friends have been joking with me for years that he'd be the next Jag QB
