Again, the disaster we have at QB is akin to Saban trotting out a shitty defense for up to 2 years.

Richt is an O guy, Saban is a D guy. Difference is, D isnt extremely dependent upon ONE person like the O is. It would take multiple mistakes for Sabans speciality to become crap, and only one for Richts.

Then that makes it even more imperative, yes? Even more focus, even more effort, etc, etc.
Besides he didn't have one chance he had four or even more if he had understood how good they are/were and had taken the appropriate recruiting actions. One position which is what you are referring to, but multiple cuts at getting the job done. I mean Mason moves on and we look around and say holy shite we just have our dicks in our hands.
It is inexplicable and unbelievable that we have no QB when Richt's expertise as a coach is QB developer and mentor and OC. So again, after 5 years of QB stability, we wake up with an oh shite we don't have dick. Gimme me a fricking break.
In regard to Saban, so you are saying it is easy to field on the top defenses in the nation year after year after year. I would disagree. It happens because of coaching, recruiting and priority to that end. Look at the fall off from BVG to 1/4 Willie for goodness sakes.
Creating excellence is never easy regardless of the endeavor. To short sell Saban and what he does with defense is stupid.

Not staying that, but I am saying that a few misses in a row at one D position aint gonna cause a D to nose dive like a few misses at QB will.
