All the more reason for concern of the current state of the Union.

The players know and do what their coaching allows them to get away with. Everything we've seen in the month of October that makes us vomit in our mouths is coaching.

The immediate fix is to can Schottenheimer. Move Lilly to interim OC. Let the TEs be coached with the WRs and OL, situationally-specific of course.

Hire a Special Teams coordinator.

Profit.

So very true. The spread guys come in with more success. The pro-style guys leave with more skill.

The benefit of a super long commitment. He's essentially a Georgia fan now. Probably watched all our games for the past 3 years at least and has ridden the coaster with us. Now he's all in and wants to be a part of it. Sounds good to me.

This is honestly kinda funny to me. I hated the frick outta that hire from day 1. there was literally nothing statistically to like about it. But people here babbled like idiots with all the shotty squatty stupidity. Dudes resume is trash and he might not be able to buy a coaching gig when he's done here. They've thrown a fricking party every time he's left a program

All that means is that he's due to turn in a good perfomance, and if anyone believes in 2nd (or 10th) chances, it's St. Mark.

Eh? That is far from being all it means. At some point you become the function of your experience.

I hear ya, and he has done a good to great job with QBs, the likes of Greene, Murray, Stafford and Shockley and even Mason was solid - pretty good record. Not so much with the Joes and the current quadrella (counting Parks).

But realize that QBs are Richt's wheel house. What he supposedly does best - a QB coach morphed into an OC. To not have a groomed QB ready to take the reins after 5 consecutive starting stability boggles my mind. They can be called busts or whatever, but Richt has to know what he had and should have taken action if they were substandard. And if they were an unknown commodity due to lack of playing time, that is on him too.

To have this melt down at QB and which may even extend to next year if you believe the posters that maintain Eason won't be ready year one, is akin to Saban fielding a shitty defense for 2 years.

Look I agree Richt sucks, he definitely should not be back next year but you guys have short memories. He has gotten QB right almost every year he has been here. Sometimes guys just don't work out, or transfer.

Nothing on defense is comparable to missing a Qb, so the saban d analogy isn't on point.

You miss my point. I am not comparing a QB to a defense.

I am comparing Richt's wheel house (QB development) and the status of the current QBs to Saban's wheel house (defense) and the long standing excellence of Bama's D.

Again, the disaster we have at QB is akin to Saban trotting out a shitty defense for up to 2 years.

Said another way, Richt has seriously fricked up at QB. Saban doesn't frick up his defense.

Capisce?

I don't buy Richt as a genius QB guru.

Matt Stafford had a ton of talent but his footwork was flawed and, while at Georgia, he never grasped the importance of trajectory. Neither of those two problems were addressed in college.

Out of HS, Aaron Murray was an incredibly accurate roll out passer from both left and right. Richt put Murray in a straitjacket by over stressing pocket passing. Murray rolled out rarely but when he did he was deadly. In the pocket he was vertically challenged and less effective.

I believe Eason has the mind and physical tools to develop well in any passing offense that stresses getting rid of the ball quickly. JE could do very well under a lot of coaches including Richt and Schottenheimer.

I don't know about that...

But I agree with the other poster below who said that Shottenheimer might be more of a risk to Eason's development than a positive. I'm very underwhelmed by Shottenheimer at this point.

You gotta think, new and unproven offensive line and possibly no nick Chubb next year. I would have very tempered expectations.
