you might not believe it if I told you. No, you would believe it. In a little town not too far from me they have a Possum Queen Contest every year. Not sure of the criteria for judging, though.

This was a good event and it was fun to be a participant and learn a thing or three from the others along the way. Well done.

And good luck everyone.

Who had the Brunswick again? That guy is in the lead.

I'm sure it's delicious, but it's not a Brunswick Stew-off.

It's a Rib-Off.

From the beginning...every pic I've seen of his rig has been of a wood smoking monster. Everyone else has basically admitted they're working from briquettes.....

...or propane.

We can only go with what we're presented...

They all look fantastic and it really is a hard call. Christopher, I would love to eat your ribs and the only deciding factor was: if the zombie apocalypse happens and we kill a pig, the other guys showed they could fix it up with what's on hand rather than looking for propane. All props to everyone. A+ for everyone.

When do we have a beer brewing competition?

Barbecue is life and ribs are its heart. More than any other meat one can cook over open flame, pork ribs are the true gauge by which one can determine an artist's true talent. I am largely a purist - I cook with charcoal and peach wood, I never leave my post, making sure everything I need is at hand so that I may fully enjoy the process. However, I am no Luddite and I appreciate innovation and creativity so long as neither denegrates the essential foundations of a good rib.

In my opinion, we saw a strong representative sampling of purist standards and innovation from all of our competitors. Each man deserves our respect and gratitude for thier performances yesterday - I was impressed by them all. That said, there can only be one winner - here are my votes:

Number 3 ... litigator ... a masterpiece, sir, and your engineering is very much appreciated.

Number 2 ... rb ... bravo, sir. Perhaps the most picture-perfect ribs I have seen in sometime.

Number 1 ... Crissy ...
Brother, your enthusiasm and passion is certainly evident in your attention to detail, the careful thought you have put into your process, and the delicious product of your labor. I applaud your ingenuity and innovation as well as your respect for the standards of your craft.

Dick Dog Dick, indeed.

My phone died right after I submitted some pics on page 4 I believe.
I apologize for the crappy phone, it will be dealt with swiftly, with no mercy
I did not upload a few vital pics (smoke ring, wood chips, Tech fan with face covered in sauce smiling, etc), but either way, I would not of been worthy of a top 3 finish IMO with the excellent work done by all of the participants.

I congratulate and thank everyone for turning in great ribs and giving me ideas that I will put to good use.

Thanks to Jefferson for his idea and effort.

Thanks to Chrissy for trying to save a sinking ship yesterday

Lastly, I hope others will ask questions and take notes from these guys on ribs and other grilling/smoking ideas, as I believe this was the point of this all along..........to get more of you guys outside, cooking good food, and enjoying the weather.

Until I get back on the grid..........

Go Dawgs!!!

Hard decision, they all look fantastic and I would kill to eat a plate of any of those right now.

This turned out better than I expected.

Edited because I didn't look at Americus' the first time

As a participant I wasn't planning on voting but as we have a Cook's Choice award I guess I should vote. This is tough for me because I really liked everything I saw as well as the posts of all participants and couldn't see how anyone could have made their ribs any better than they did. Wish I could vote for all but I know we're limited to three. I picked rb in the betting thread to win prior to the competition and after seeing everything yesterday I'm sticking with him as my first choice. So,

1) rb
2) bwood
3) AmericusDawg

Good job everyone.
