I said in a previous post that I would reserve long term judgement on Fromm, and even last night still doesn't give us a lot of insight in terms of his ability to win it with his arm against a better defense, but there are some things that can't be overlooked.

If anyone watched the ESPN Final Drive piece last night/this morning, I found the commentary interesting that Fromm *still* needs to prove he can win it with his arm. I'm of the mind that I want to see it again to really buy it, but due to the way the game *finished* last night, it seems like they discounted how well he threw the ball early.

Right now, Fromm is touting the following stat line: 9.6 YPA, 12 Passing TDs/3 INTs (4:1 ratio), 16 Total TDs...

Perhaps more impressive is our offense's nearly 51% Third Down conversion percentage. Good for 5th in the country, tops in the SEC, and the largest sample size of any of the top 5 teams as well. Fromm's efficiency throwing the ball is helping a ton there, as is our playcalling and ability to try and stay out of 3rd and long... we're incredibly balanced on 3rd down with 52 passing attempts and 51 rushes. 36/103 we're in 3rd and 1-3, 27/103 - 3rd and 4-6. Or in other words, we're in pretty manageable 3rd down situations 61.2% of the time...

Credit to Chaney for figuring out how to make this thing work, actually making adjustments in game (wasn't sure that was a thing he actually did up until recently)... Ultimately pleased with where we're at. Time to see this "work week" and preparation for UF really pay off. They're reeling, good chance they try to throw some different wrinkles at us with Franks struggling...

Would you prefer ESPN pumping up your shitty qb or downplaying your quality qb?

I was iffy about going all in on Fromm, but he really impressed me yesterday. He rebounding from an early int, he made some great throws, and he also sat in the pocket and took some hits and still delivered the ball. Its Frommward from here

Fromm showed me something last night: that he has a strong arm and is an accurate passer under pressure. Several times last night deep at our end of the field he gunned long sideline passes to Wims for first-down yardage on 3rd and long while Missouri was loading the box stuffing our running game in the first quarter. Honestly after seeing the way they stopped our running game I was a bit concerned about how the game was going to go. I knew that we didn't have enough of a pass rush to keep Lock from making some big pass plays but fortunately Fromm came through in the clutch with passes that compensated for our lack of a rushing offense early in the game.

Fromm absolutely has an NFL arm, that can be put to rest. I think Easons arm may only be slightly better but Fromm makes quicker decisions, has a quicker release, and throws a more catchable, in stride ball.

Hope Eason stays as he knows that one play can change everything and he would be back in. That said , Eason has millions on the line so I am going to say he is gone. Needs to go somewhere with a mature oline for his style to work.

Neither... They can ignore him for all I care, just felt it was interesting. Also, at no point have I said he was shitty, though I think you know that.

Fromm is the complete package:
1. Field general who assesses the defense quickly and makes quick decisions.
2. Strong arm with as quick of a release as I have ever seen.
3. Accurate passer who puts just the right touch on his passes depending on the situation.
4. Athletic enough to score TD's in the red-zone running.

His tackling isn't bad either. Hated to see that pick but loved watching him solo tackling that defender. Kid is a gamer.

This was the big test we were waiting for.

At some point, we knew a team was going to sell out and stop the run, and make Fromm beat us.

That's exactly what Mizzou did.

I think a "what was that y'all were telling us about Chaney" thread is due on tRant. Arky and Vol fans need their pots stirred and their attention redirected for a bit.

Also, on Fromm....does anyone else see a likeness to Brett Favre or is it just me?

I's probably obvious at this point but I've been on the Fromm train since I saw him perform against App St. He's got that "it factor" that people have been talking about and carries himself very well for being a true freshman.

I was impressed by what he did yesterday but one of the things that impressed me most of all was a little thing. In the two-minute offense leading up to the half, there was a play where a receiver (Ridley?) was on the wrong side of the field and Fromm got him moved to where he was supposed to be. I don't think it amounted to much on the play but I liked how he knows what the play is and where everyone is supposed to be and doesn't hesitate to get everyone in position.

He threw a couple of nice blocks on rush plays, too. He's definitely not a pussy.

It's just you. Favre would have 12 picks already this season and would have thrown one on the final drive against ND
