Well to be fair last night I was actually happy that I was a UGA fan and not an LSU fan. Bama is really just that many steps ahead of everyone else in the SEC when it comes to recruiting in the trenches, coaching, and strength / development. When I watch Bama play I rarely see a missed tackle, reminds me of watching some of the good defensive NFL teams. I'm starting to think they wont lose another game this year. Their defensive line and OLine are dominant.

Yeeeeeeeeeah after last night I think we can just throw out the Bama game in the case against Richt; they were going to steamroll anyone and everyone after that loss to Ole Miss whether we thought we should be able to hang with them or not.

Now, that doesn't excuse the Tennessee and Florida games, but just saying...

Agree with this. Alabama is managed/coached like a professional team. I would guess that the other elite teams like Ohio St. employ a similar management strategy.
Many discount the importance of the star rating systems but it's no coincidence that there is a strong correlation between recruiting rankings and success in college football.

IMHO one of our problems is recruiting; specifically settling for too many 3 star players. If you look at the top 10 teams in recruiting, Georgia often gets more 3 star vs 4 star players while other top 10 teams consistently have more 4 star players than 3 star players. The 3 star skill players are usually smaller and/or slower and our players in the trenches aren't athletic enough for their size.

The recruiting this season for 2016 is not an exception: LINK

Per 247, Georgia has the 7th ranked class so far with 7 four stars and 8 three stars; all of the teams above us have more 4 stars than 3 stars.

2015 - 12 four stars 16 three stars
2014 - 10 four stars 8 three stars (better recruiting)
2013 - 15 four stars 18 three stars
2012 - 6 four stars 9 three stars
2011 - 10 four stars 13 three stars

I would also add that way too many star players/difference makers like Deshawn Watson, Knemdiche, Von Bell, Raekwon McMillan, Dontavius Russell, Chidi Valentine-Okeke, Arden Key, Mitch Hyatt, etc. end up at other schools. In a recruiting rich state like Georgia, I know we can't get all of the in-state recruits but we sure could be doing a better job of getting the cream of the crop each season.

Good assessment GurleyGirl.

Regarding the 2016 class, IF the Dawgs can land the biggest remaining 5* in GA that would be CMR's best class ever:

* Mecole
* Kyle
* Derrick
* Issac (Playing at IMG)

Also hopefully the rumors are true that Whaley is a silent commit, giving us another 4* RB to compliment Elijah.

I'll disagree with party line on this. We played much better than people are willing to give credence to in all 3 games. The offense has sucked and that's unforgivable but you take away our giving the game away, Bama only scores 24 and Florida only scores 7 or 14. With an offense with a pulse, those our competitive games. And we're only 2-3 players away from that.

Don't take that same giving the coaching staff a pass cause I'm not. Just how I see it.

We can only hope. I think we miss out on some top players because there is a perception that Georgia is simply not an elite program and will never win a NC without a superstar like Herschel Walker.

Pruitt seems to have the defense playing better and hopefully will be able to attract elite in-state defensive players. It would seem that our problem is offense now that Bobo is gone. I would like to see Richt hire a proven OC with a system that employs a more innovative/diverse offense similar to what Boise St. used under Petersen. We need to recruit more athletic QB's like Deshawn Watson. If you look at Clemson's offense it is definitely not a mostly read/option offense like Malzahn's offense. They used plenty of power running game plays with play-action passes against FSU yesterday. Different situations call for different offensive sets aka diversity on offense.

I agree that our defense probably played well enough to win all 3 games if the offense had stepped up. Sometimes you have to give a talented offense like the Vols with an athletic QB and bruising RB credit for being what they are and be prepared to win a shootout in such games. Poor offense and special teams play along with TO's account for most of our woes.

How many from that 2013 class are even producing?

What a disaster. Floyd, Mayes, and Mauger are the only top contributors... Might can add Bellamy and Atkins...

The complete waste of a recruiting class that was 2013 is our biggest problem imo. We are playing with virtually 3 recruiting classes while others are getting contributions from 4-5 recruiting classes.

The new recruiting philosophy that Pruitt brought in will begin paying divides in the next year or two.

Bama has guys that do nothing but study film. Not just tendencies but every tell of every player. I bet we don't do that.
