If we're to believe some of the scuttlebutt going on around other boards, it's kinda hard to really point the blame at ACCPD on this one.

I find it hard to believe that it happened a week ago and they turned themselves in at 12:30am. Not typically when you turn yourself in...

-It's UGA that is bringing the noise here (property damage to the building and having "guns" in the residence

I believe this one.

not necessarily 7 days ago, just "last week". Could be a coincidence but I believe Rochester was demoted to 3rd string later in the week during practice..

Yeah...I mean IF the stories are true and a building employee noticed shite all fricked up and called the cops, not really the cops fault IMO. Sure, I'd love it if they showed up and just gave them a stern lecture but I mean if there really was a lot of damage done and the kids were shooting "guns" their hands are sorta tied at that point.

I'm sure someone will request access to the police report ASAP and that'll be public this week.

Also, if you are turning yourself in on a felony charge, your lawyer would go with you and you wouldn't spend 5-6 hours in jail. Couple hours for booking at most. The bail, paperwork, etc would all be ready and you would turn yourself in during working hours. Hard to believe anything else in the story now.

I was drunk as shite and thought it would be funny. It didn't help that we sprayed a guy in the barracks the weekend prior. We had water extinguishers though. I wasn't expecting the bar one to have the foam type. That shite went everywhere.

Funny the stuff we do when younger. Then we get scared when caught and facing punishment...then find it funny after it is all over. Apparently you were in the service at the time? Bet you got more punishment from your superiors than the cops.

Before the world turned stupid, these two would have had their BB gun(s) taken away and maybe made to perform community service. Now it's a felony since they were on "campus grounds". Yes, they're stupid freshmen. Yes, the charges will be lessened. Yes, Kirby will suspend them and run them until they're tripping over their tongues. Freshmen are always gonna do stupid stuff.

Yeah I was stationed at Parris Island at the time. I spent 3 days locked up in Chatham County. It sucked.

My command didn't really do anything to me. It helped that I was at DI School and the Director went to bat for me. I think the Battalion Commander wanted to publicly execute me in the middle of a graduation ceremony. He was not a fan.

I had to pay restitution and everything was put under the First Offender's Act. Good times.

Probably in private he was laughing. At least, i would hope so.

Don't know how old you are, but you actually DO look back at the stuff you got into trouble over and laugh.

By the way...thanks for your service. I never served in the armed forces. I got out of high school shortly after we started pulling out of Vietnam, so I avoided going in for fear of an escalation. Don't get me wrong, I would have gone if drafted or if I had to....but I wasn't looking to go, either.

So....thanks.

I'm 31 now. This was 10 years ago so it's definitely in the funny category

Hell, my mom framed this shite:

Hopefully their attorneys do work for their futures at least. No one likes to see a felony on the record.

I'm ready for stupid stuff like this to stop though.

Clay was booked at 12:13 a.m. and Rochester at 12:29 a.m. They remained in jail as of 9:30 a.m. They were granted a $2,000 bond on the weapons charge after a hearing Tuesday morning, according to their attorney, Kim Stephens. The criminal damage charge carries a bond of $5,000. Stephens said the players will be released after being processed.

Stephens, an Athens defense attorney, said the players were shooting solo cups in their dorm room with a Daisy BB gun, which left marks on the door and in other areas of the room. The way the statute reads, anything that shoots a projectile — “including a straw and spitball” — fits the definition of a weapon on campus, Stephens said.

“Every kid eating with a steak knife in the campus dining hall commits a felony under the statute,” Stephens said.

This is stupid.

Solid quotes there from Kirby:

quote:

“I’m disappointed with the poor judgment of Julian and Chad,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said in a statement. “We expect full compliance with the policies of the University and of our football program from all our student-athletes. Information is still being gathered but they will be disciplined in an appropriate manner.”

Later in the morning, Smart addressed the arrests during his weekly appearance on The Bulldog Roundtable on Atlanta radio station 680 The Fan. “Poor decisions,” Smart said. “It’s something we’re going to have to deal with as a university and a team.”

So far, no one overreacting and jumping to suspensions. Appropriate manner in this case seems like it should just be more up downs and stairs than they've ever wanted to do in their lifetime and likely some community service to boot.

that's a projectile, so according to the rule that's a felony.

Apparently.

WHAT A BUNCH OF THUGS! WHAT POOR JUDGMENT!

Sad times when a college kid shooting at dixie cups with a BB gun is charged with a felony.
