Seems as if ours are not very physical at all...

quote:

“Blocking can come easy to those who want to block,” (Terrence) Edwards said. “Blocking to me is one of the easier things to do as a receiver. Because it takes no talent to block. Point blank and simple.”

When it comes down to it, you got the play the guy that can only catch and run over the guy who can only block.

First of all, 5-10 is not too small to block in the secondary. No excuse there for Godwin.

Even imac isnt too small to block. You dont have to end up on espn with a highlight block. You just have to get in the way, allow your own arse to get knocked down, disrupt the defender just enough for your ball carrier to get by.

But what do i know.

I can see Godwin and iMac both being primaddonnas when it comes to being put in a blocking situation. It might not be a question of if they can block, but if they feel they're above doing that job.

Then kirby needs to bring in some nfl draft scouts to tell them how worthless they'll be in the nfl.

Most of the time all that is needed is for the blocker to slow down or reroute the defender for a play to be successful. Any player that won't do that shouldn't be on the field.

Or just start giving away passing play reps in practice to the younger guys who want to block

The guys catching aren't blocking and the guys blocking aren't catching.

I think the biggest question is how to get these guys to do it.

I can understand why. We need to recruit bigger receivers who have the mass/arse to be able block and go up in traffic for passes.

That has less to do with size and more to do with attitude

Well, Edwards wasn't all that big and stated that the size doesn't matter in blocking. But yes, we do need taller/bigger receivers...

imac and Godwin are good receivers and are little. We don't need bigger blockers. We just need guys that are willing to.

Actually, as an old WR, I would say you nailed it.

I remember little T. Edwards blocking Batman Carroll through the end zone, out of the Georgia Dome, and into the parking lot in the SEC Championship game against Arkansas.

He knows what he's talking about here.

Force = mass times acceleration. Given that acceleration is going to be relatively equal among players, size matters.

My perspective as well. There's are reason a lot of teams are using these jumbo packages successfully on goal-line offense.
