Carter Second Team

The quick version of this story is that apparently Carter has been slacking off in practice and Bellamy was with the first team for today's game. Carter's response to the benching is slightly disturbing:
LINK
Carter on Bellamy:
“He’s been doing great,” Carter said. “I’ve been cheering him on. He’s moving along, and the more outside linebackers that we have that are game-ready then the less snaps we have to take, destroying our body.”
So he’s cool with sitting?
“Yeah, I’m cool with being fresh,” Carter said. “Fresh legs means more sacks. More sacks means more money.”
Now, at face value you could assume Carter is being funny, but I've seen a few of his interviews during High School and you could tell he is a nice kid but also can be a little flippant when his talent is questioned. This almost always leads to a guy who has the potential to be in the dog house at some point.
Just food for though, but Im not sure his head is where it needs to be at with those comments perhaps.

I read this as him being a team player and being unselfish, nothing wrong with wanting to see your teammates do well.

same although i dont love the "more sacks = more money" line. im fine with cockiness and understand that these guys are trying to get to the league, but that line shows a good bit of dumbassery

jodeaux, we'd be cool with you sitting out

What?!?!?!? A highly thought of draft prospect wants to do well to make more money? No way!

We should look at this from the perspective of Nick Chubb.
WWCD?
Chubb would not like being on the bench because he wants the ball....therefore any other answer is wrong and should be corrected.

Maybe Bellamy has earned the playing time.
Once when I coached HS ball I started my entire second string defense. Not because they were better - but because they earned it.
It's just a game, every kid who goes out there every day deserves to be on the field for the first snap at least once.
On the other side - when I played ball I was happy to let a younger player get the reps instead of me.
That's how players develope. You definitely don't want to be in a situation where your 2nd team guy has no clue.
Carter will be a 1st round pick and dominate on D.
As much as I hate Richts arse - this is smart.

I can almost guarantee you they are. I had a buddy who was a safety at GT back in their 08,09 seasons. If he made an interception, there'd be $500 in his locker after the game.

He can say whatever he wishes so long as he is a beast on the field. You guys overreact much?

Bagman etc....a friend of mine played for The Denver Broncos.
He said the dudes from Duh U when it was Duh U complained they took a pay cut coming to the NFL.
That's how a small private school in Coral Gables wins 5 Tylas.

Watched the Pony Expre$$ special on ESPN this morning.
Talk about some bagmen.Eric Dickerson got a gold Trans Am in HS from A&M and obviously kept the car and signed with SMU...still wouldn't say what SMU offered.
Another player was offered 20k to sign Arkansas and told the bagman it wasn't even close to money A&M offered...hell and this was THIRTY years ago!
Ive also heard some pretty interesting stories from UGA players I used to know 80's.

My wife was asst. manager of the Budget Rent-a-car in town when I was going to school. They also had a Western Union. She said players would regularly come in and pick up money sent to them from their 'mom' in Texas.
The players - Lars Tate, Tim Worley and Keith Henderson. The one RB we had at the time that was actually FROM Texas - Rodney Hampton - never came in. The amounts were usually something around $200.00 or so.
I told her to please keep her mouth shut about it. She didn't give a flip about football so she didn't really care one way or another.
So yeah, it happens (or at least happened). But we were rank amateurs compared to $MU, Da U, etc.

Ask her if she remembers who got arrested in one of their cars in Florida on Spring break.

I question this kind of shite going down because if Gurley was getting under the table support from boosters, what the frick was he fricking around with that dipshit signing autographs for peanuts for? And why would AJ sell his jersey for pennies if boosters were taking care of him?
The motive isn't there, if all these guys are getting paid under the table.

It may not be going down now, for all I know. This was back in 1986-89. Dooley's last gasp and Goff's first year and before the internet. No clue what, if anything is going on now. My guess is that there are a LOT more controls in place to stop this kind of thing today.
