That's overly cynical. It's a natural instinct for parents/guardians to want their kids to stay close to home. Nevertheless, I agree with your second statement. In this case, everyone might be a lot happier if they let Roquan choose his path.

Not really. Some parents are sorry enough to just ride the coattails.

starting to see that more and more. And not even ride coattails, but influence their child's most important life decision up until this point, because school X (AU....cough cough) is going to give them a sweet setup that school Y (probably UGA) wouldnt give them

Yep. A good friend got a scholly and played for ND (dad was pretty much non-existent) and then went on to play in the pros...and guess what happened?

I didn't say it never happens. But that's doesn't mean that in this case someone is "making sure she keeps that pay check close". There's no need for that kind of accusation in a specific case when a simple explanation is more likely; the family would like Roquan to live and play close to home because they love him. So yes, the statement was judgemental and cynical for no reason.

I think Roquan's family should let him go wherever he wants, and I haven't seen any indication they've refused to do that. My mother would have done the same, but she wouldn't have been happy about me moving thousands of miles away at age 18.

It appears Roquan is waiting for UCLA to find a new coach so Roquan can meet Corch UCLA and declare he and corch UCLA hit it off and he's sticking with his decision. Wager??

I'm with you, for some reason he seems dead set to leave the state of Georgia!

If that were the case why not go ahead and just sign the LOI?
Not saying he won't eventually, but if his mind was already made why not just fax it in on NSD?

It really does sound like he's giving UCLA every available opportunity to give him a reason to sign. It's unfortunate for us, in that case, but if his heart isn't in it in Athens, then cut the school loose. Damn.

I get it that he's conflicted, but I'd be curious as to our legit chances of ending up with him, if he knew that his family wasn't listening.
