No, you still don't get it and it is fairly simple. I am not comparing programs (Miami vs UGA, etc, etc).

It is about the admins desire about the status of the program. Where you are and where do you want to be? Texan, Miami, South Carolina, and any other program has nothing to do with UGA. And the application of the fear factor in a defense of Richt.

My point on the fear factor is:

1) Don't based a coaching decision in any way based upon the fact it could be worse. Every decision in LIFE could be worse,
2) Make the coaching decisions based on what is believed to be best for the future and goals of the program.

All change has risk.

All change.

Just don't be afraid.

Just like life, yes?

Which it is.

I mean, if we are using logic here. Richt brings a very positive aspect of respect from many to our program and the program is very profitable. No board of directors would fire Richt at this point unless he was fricking goats or kids...

Except for Bama, Ohio State, LSU, Florida, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma and USC west.

None of those have kept a coach for 15 years that did not win a NC save for Schembechler and McClendon and they just barely nudged over 15.

Those programs have won the vast majority of NCs over the past recent history.

Think there is a correlation?

I think you are speculating and do not have data to support your statement, but it is a nice emotional angle.

Seriously, check it out.

Research baby, research. I was surprised myself.

I actually was more surprised at how they go through periods of really churning coaches.

Seriously?

What are your expectations for the program?

I will tell you mine. We should be able to compete at the top level nationally and in the SEC every year with rare exception. That means a sustainable position. And if I were the President I would direct my AD to that mission for football and every other sport. I would kick down any door and remove any AD and coach that was not supportive of that mission and taking substantial steps to that end.

A decade without a SEC title and no appearance in a NC game does not support that mission.

Imminently doable. YOu just have to have the right AD and coaches. The evidence of what the right coach can bring is rampant.

frick the ranters that are scared. Let'em be scared. Pussies.

I can't imagine running my life with the scared mantra they profess. Hell, you would never do anything, it could always be worse.

Call it, whatever it is, "scared" you want, but it's lilely the most rationale position as compared to yours at this exact moment in time. Lets see the season finish.

I am not even sure what the it's is that you refer to. I am not calling for Richt's head in mid-season and possibly not after the year given the pending coming of Eason the savior of all that is Georgia football. But there is not an argument anymore even from the most ardent Richt supporters that he can take us to the elite level of college football. Rather it has descended to the "fear phobia" defense position. And that is sad.

Further, the QB situation this year while lamentable and inexcusable is also insightful.

What is Richt's wheel house as a coach? Where does he excel, what does he know best? QB coach and developer of same.

Yet after 5 consistent years of 2 starters there is no one in the wings and a Virginia cast off is our starter to pretty disastrous results or a best case of a mediocre result. And according to many on this board, we are in for the same next year as Eason cannot be expected to make the immediate transition and they may very well be correct.

That is akin to Saban fielding 2 years of real shitty defenese and that is not going to happen.

Think about it.
