Well, he IS a qb guru. What his players do in teh NFL doesn't amount to a hill of beans.
He's coached 2 Heisman winners, the all time winningest QB in NCAA history (at the time), a 1 year starter that earned SEC POTY, a #1 overall draft pick, and a multiple times over SEC record setter.
His QB coaching resume in college is pretty much unmatched.
So....but for Richt's tutelage, those guys would have had the quarterbacking ability of Stephen Hawking on a heroin drip? His talented guys did what talented guys do. He wasn't exactly turning modestly talented guys into world beaters.

A lot of fuss has been made about Saban's stars fizzling out in the NFL. No one can argue he's the man.
Also, you've got people like Tim Tebow who excel in college but can't cut it once they get around equal talent.

Saban's a great college coach, but wasn't much in the NFL. He's far from the only one who couldn't make the jump.
A lot of "gurus" tend not to look so guru-y when presented with more average players, or when faced with relatively equal competition. You don't hear much about "offensive guru Charlie Weis" or "offensive guru Chip Kelly" anymore, for example.

Saban is not winning with a 25th ranked class.

And Steve Spurrier's/ UFs QBs. How many great UF QBs didn't make it in the NFL? I can't remember but I'll say at least 3.

Maybe not NC's, but you could take a staff with Belicheck as HC, Nick Saban as DC, and Urban Meyer as OC and still probably not win a national title without elite talent.

Yall are stretching the criteria I laid out.
Saban and Spur had plenty of fizzles...
I'm not talking about fizzles. I'm talking about taking snaps in an NFL regular season game.
After 15 years at UGA, only 1 of his QB's has taken a single snap in an NFL game.

Are you an early test subject of the antidote? Have you started our clinical trials?

Anyway deeprig I see I missed the first page of this thread.
I'll weigh in with this. CMR was/is a great human being and, in my opinion, WAS a great QB coach. No doubt. Even a very good CFB coach as far as winning percentage goes.
Big Game chokeacilin is a special ingredient in the antidote.

Oliver just pointed out...
Richt, the QB guru, in 15 years at UGA, had exactly 1 qb ever play a snap in the NFL.
Highlights the distinction in what it takes to be a successful QB in the pros vs college football. You could also argue that UGA has gotten more out of QB's with less talent. On the flip side it suggests that Richt was not successful at recruiting NFL level talent at the QB position but then again Matt Stafford's don't exactly grow on trees.

Aaron Murray signs with Arizona Cardinals practice squad

I'd love to see him come onboard as an assistant at UGA. He was always in the film room when not putting in some extra time with his receivers or banging some piece.

Shockley took snaps at ATL.

Looks like Murray just signed with the Eagles' practice squad.
