See, what I don't understand is that if the rules are changing when it comes to back-counting, then what is the advantage to taking less than a true 25, even if the '18 GA kids are considered to be not as strong as the 17/19 classes?
Wouldn't that be the perfect time to raid FL/TX/CA? Somebody has to have an abnormally strong year for producing talent. Take ALL THE KIDS.

Ok my bad I misspoke. I thought based on scholly numbers we simply wouldn't have very many spots to fill. Looking at other sites it looks like we can take up to 24.
As for new rules idk I haven't read them so I have no idea.

Something like 4 of those guys are QB's. I don't think the '18 class is as weak as we are putting on when you look at 247. According to their rankings, it doesn't have the depth of this years class or the '19 class but we this group should be able to help the team.

Auburn is hiring Bryant and Quay Walker's head coach as a defensive analyst, as a result Quay now says that Auburn is his new leader. Last month he was at the rising senior game in Georgia gear basically saying if we got Bryant then he would probably commit shortly after.

I personally think Auburn will be good next year, but if they’re not? Gus will be gone, and their new analyst will be unemployed. Long way to go

We as fans tend to think more of our players than everyone else does. And that is fine.
Don't get me wrong. I love the 2017 and 2016 offensive line classes. But the amount of room for improvement from last season is huge. It is a lot to ask young and new guys to plug in and click like a dominant running offense (and if we can't run the ball well, we will still struggle to put points up and we will be fighting in the 4th quarter against teams that are supremely less talented than us).
Could we be dominant by the end of 2017? Sure. Maybe. But what good is that losing 3 games along the way and sitting outside the seccg?

Hayes stands a very high chance of being an upgrade over The Wine Mixer, Wynn has been solid most of his career, Gaillard has shown signs of being a damn solid interior player. We have young guys with talent (Cleveland, Kindly, and Johnson). A ton of analysts believe that Wilson has the physical tools to start at RT from day 1; some feel the same about Thomas now after seeing him dominate people in San Antonio. There WILL be bumps early in the season but by game 3 you should see dividends of our young guns are half as good as advertised.

His feet need to improve. They aren't his greatest strength and idk how Sam Pittman teaches the vertical set but Isaiah turns his shoulders to the sideline very early making an inside rip or an inside spin move harder for him to defend.
He will be good but the work against smarter better athletes will help him become truly dominant.

Wynn is solid be he has to cut down on his penalties. It seemed like he was out most penalized OL

I agree that Hayes has potential. But so did Catalina. And by the end of the season, Catalina held his own in the run game (pass pro was way below average). Improvement in pass pro could be huge for Eason. Eason was visibly frustrated with pass pro by the end of the season.
Wynn is solid against 75% of the teams we will face (as a guard). But he doesn't do well against big, talented guys. As a matter of fact, he becomes a liability. Is Gaillard good enough to help cover the liability? Will Gaillard be needed to help on the right side? How consistent will Gaillard be (played DT 1 season?).
And starting a true freshman at right tackle is not a plan for success. It is a plan for the future. "Good for a freshman" becomes the mantra as fans gloss over the penalties and missed assignments.
We as fans tend to gloss over the realities of the personnel. All fans do it.
My only point is that if we can run the football, then we can be great. But we are starting new guys at 4 spots on the line. And the returning starter is undersized for the position. There are serious questions about how well we will be able to run in 2017. 2016 was that bad.

Actually we got the ball rolling there at the end of the year running the football.
All those worried about the line just take heart in knowing there is no fricking way it will be worse then last year and the Catalina Wine Mixer.
