Yeah it's harder to bar hop on Washington. I still have places here and there that I enjoy on Washington but any event at Reliant is set up perfectly to go out in Midtown because of the light rail

They are really strict about rules and stuff now, it's stupid. They kind of live off the rep from the previous years and it probably works business wise but it's not nearly as fun

Is it just me, or has the city/county really clamped down on those 'late night' Asian message parlors? I remember that they boomed in the early 2000's, but today it seems like they're not as spread as before.

Pretty sad.

They're still out there but you're right, it does seem that way. You can still get a cheap rub and tug on 1960 or Bellaire Blvd though. That's H Town like West Nile Virus

Go to the Matamoras Meat Market on Lyons right before it dead ends and get some boudian you won't be disappointed. If boudian isn't your style go one block further and there's an old red house on the left that is a Mexican restaurant that is amazing, you need to habla Español if you want to order though.

I'm quite partial to the Rajun Cajun on Richmond.

Its not bad, but you don't come to Houston for Cajun.

I think TexMex is your best choice. The OG Ninfas or El Tiempo are my favorites.

Or if you really want to step your game up then goto Hugo's.

Went to Haymerchant last night... got towed... be careful where you park around there. Unless you want to go searching for your car in an impound in the ghetto at 10pm like I was yesterday!

Yeah, that's the danger of some of the trendy places. Parking sucks.

I live in South Texas, and Mrs. The Balinese Club is from The Valley. We don't do Mexican Food or "Tex-Mex" in Houston.

Our Cajun food in South Texas sucks. So we do Cajun in Houston.

And El Tiempo is really just not that special. Ninfa's is "ok."

Why is TexMex in quotation marks?

Because we call it Mexican Food. "Tex-Mex" is for gringos that don't know any better.

Disagreed. Tex-Mex implies the use of expensive meat that you won't find in many places south of the border.

White people cook "Tex-Mex", Mexicans cook Mexican food.

Why? There's plenty of great Mexican Food joints in South Texas. Had a taco today on the way to work. But we know better than to eat Mexican Food north of Victoria on the way to Houston.

Hey, and I grew up just south of Houston. But by marrying a Valley girl and moving south I have learned that Houston is SouthEast Texas and that real South Texas doesn't start until you cross the Guadalupe. It's just different.

And I do love Cajun Food. And our lack of good Cajun joints makes me want to take advantage of it when I get to Houston.

Anyone can cook anything.

TexMex is beef(fajitas), cheddar(yeller cheese), & cummin(not a spice comminly used in Mexican dishes).

I understand your reasoning for wanting Cajun. I just don't appreciate you talking down about TexMex because you like Mexican better.
