Just wanted to drop a quick guide in here for the fellow Ark-mates visiting the great City of Houston this weekend:
Trying to keep suggestions broad as everyone will be staying scattered throughout our great non-zoned sprawl.
Midtown:
Good for the 20-30 something crowd and those that want to observe "the scenery".
Would recommend:
BARS:
Mongoose vs Cobra - Coctail Bar
Little Woodrows
Pub Fiction (Aggie Favorite)
Celtic Gardens
EATS:
Ibiza
Reef - Brian Caswell's original Restaurant
Christian's Tailgate - Burgers
Weights and Measures / Slow dough Bakery -New Place but great food.
Montrose/West U:
Bars:
Revelry on Richmond - Couple of Ags in the Ownership group. - Good food as well for a Sports Bar
Anvil - Swanky Mixology Bar - Gotta try the Pretzel
Low Brow - Guys that run Free Press Summer Fest also own this more "hipster" Hangout but the owners are my neighbor and a good low key joint try the Blue Cheese Burger
Boheme - Good wine bar and got to have the Vietnamese Fries
EATS:
Going to have to limit the list here
Underbelly - Probably Houston's most well known Chef and Restaurant (They now the executive chef for the Texans. $$
Uchi Co. - Upscale Sushi but worth it... be ready for $$$
Danton's Seafood
Coppa Osteria in West U
Little Bigs - Slider Style Hotdogs from same ownership of Reef
Breakfast - Harry's (Could consider this lower Midtown)
Common Bond Bakery - Get the Egg Scramble.
Oiishii Sushi on Richmond - Mrs and I call it Sushi Diner... be prepared to wait but very good for the price.
My Favorite's because I can walk from my house:
El Tiempio 1308 Annex - Watch out for the Margs, servers start asking how your doing after 2.
Dolce Vita - Great little Pizza / Italian Joint - Trust me on the brussel sprouts you'll want more.
Galleria / Uptown Park:
Not my favorite area because its well the Galleria but
Champps Sports Bar
Tasting Room
Uptown Sushi
City Center:
Grubb Burger Bar - Aggie Owned
RA Sushi
Seasons 52
Couple of Well know Houston Chains as well.
Yardhouse for Drinks
Radio Milano across from the Mays Buisness School serves a good cocktail but slow service.
Downtown/Market Square:
Fusion Taco
Hearsay Gastro Lounge
Flying Saucer
El Big Bad
Bovine and Barley
River Oaks Area:
Brassarie 19 - Rich Cougars and Lambos but good food good bar.
Local Pour - Think Live Music on Fridays good bar selection always a happy hour crowd, Fridays its normally packed.
Not at all comprehensive but hope it helps.

Hay Merchant is worth stopping by if you go to Underbelly. Right next door and a great local beer selection with some pretty solid bar food. Owned and run by the same people

People from Houston who root for the Cowboys are the worst kind of person

Oops... forgot that somehow. They share a wall and I drive past it twice a day at least.

If you want to go out at night in midtown, the most Dallas-like talent you'll find is gaslamp.
And if you've never been to the Red Door, you have to go to the Red Door.

Is Washington not the hot spot to go out anymore?

Traffic Sucks on Washington... seems like see-saw has tilted back to Midtown... Washington also too spread out IMO.

One of the most memorable nights of my life happened there. It was a Wednesday. After a Kid Rock concert at the Houston rodeo.

Probably the most 'murican concert I've ever been to. And for never owning a Kid Rock song in my life, I surprisingly remembered more than bawitdabaw.

Anyone else down for prayer instead of Midnight Yell?
