Absolutely, the buyout should never be more than 2 years of the contract

Only 6 days until a repeat of the 2005 Iowa State game.

Don't make the mistake of thinking I'm happy about this. I'm resigned to it.

No one wanted this, that's for sure. Whomever is the coach we all want to see that person succeed. Still this is a results oriented business and if the results are there, there is a change made. The question is, how does all of this play out?

I also think Mond will be on a very short leash vs. Auburn. I think Sumlin might actually coach as though his job is on the line. It will make potentially very interesting watching Saturday.

Not until the end of the year according to "the scoop"

FootballScoop

Sumlin has apparently "been counting the days".

"Counting the days for almost two years now." What horse crap. He likely knew his job was lost close to two years ago when everyone realized he couldn't manage a locker room or qb competition but he wasn't "counting down the days"

With the way he's been coaching it seems to me he quit a long time ago. Now he's just collecting his paycheck. Before taxes that comes out to $416,667/month. Let that sink in. It's possible he's been counting the days until he no longer gets that hefty salary.

I'm not familiar with either of those sites/reporters; is there any reason to believe them?

I have no problem believing he's mentally checked out just cashing checks until the day he's free and can go live on the beach enjoying his music and rum, but I'm not counting on anything until the school makes an announcement.

I find it hard to believe that he’s wanted out for 2+ years. Where else is he going to go that will pay him 5 million a year? I’ll answer that one.....no where.

So while he hasn’t looked like he’s wanted to win very much, I find it hard to believe he doesn’t want the paycheck he’s been collecting the last 5 years.

He probably knows his time is up, hell his wife knew it at the beginning of the season when she published that letter....
