There's a reason that Florida is a favorite this weekend.

The last time A&M won in the state of Florida, American Soldiers were liberating France.

Florida lost to lsu. Might have just been an off night, but they have been unimpressive all year and have had an easy schedule. Even if we finish 7-5, which I would say Sumlin gone if so, this team will be good next year.

When's the last time we even played in Florida? Miami 2007? Before that?

That wouldn't earn a short extension?

sure, but no more buyout money.

we need to be 9-3 or 10-2 every season. 8-4 should be an outlier, not the norm.

3 gimee noncon games. scar, state, arky. why the eff should 8 wins be a big deal. 6 teams always on our schedule that we have way more talent than.

only need to go 2-4 against teams with similar or greater talent to go 8-4. 8-5 because of a shitty bowl game is even worse.

I agree, 10-2 should earn him the right to 2 years on a contract

I think your hope that this weekend is another nail in the coffin for Sumlin is not going to go the way you think. Ags match up reasonably well. I expect our D to more than hold its own this weekend. Florida just too one dimensional on offense. We should be able to control the clock and our offense will start to wear them down. I would like to see Ford get 12-15+ carries. Florida is just average and mentally not very good. I think Ags win by 10-12 points.

Just an FYI... There is a 40% chance of rain and a NE wind at 10mph expected.

meh, one year.

10-2 2012
8-4 2013
7-5 2014
8-4 2015
8-4 2016

this doesn't deserve a contract extension. IF we finish the regular season with 9 or 10 wins i can see extending the contract with no extra buyout for one more year. that would tie him up through 2020. enough for recruiting. i wanna see him win something before he gets more buyout money in a contract. at least ny6 victory if he can't win the sec west or the sec. looks like he has a good qb for two more years at least. needs to do something with it.

I think I've seen this before.

Oh that's right, it was said before the Mississippi State game and before the Ole Miss game in 2016. We know how those turned out.

one... and that's being generous. you don't lose 59-0, get blown out by both mississippi teams, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against Ole Miss last year and UCLA this year and get rewarded. You get to not get fired immediately.

His current deal runs through the 2019 season, correct? Why extend him at all... just let it run its course if you don't fire him this year and look at it after next season.

I have to wonder how much dead $$ has been created the last 10-15 years with all these buyouts. What a waste of resources and $$.

If he wins out including the bowl a few rumors will be floated out by his agent that he's a hot name for a couple of NFL jobs or maybe someplace like UCLA and boom a raise and extension hits his desk, nature of the beast now a days .

I think I'm being misunderstood

2 years under contract is all I would allow him, I wouldn't give him 2 years on top of what he has left

If he can look at recruits and say he's under contract for another 2 seasons, that should be enough

he's already under contract through 2019, i was just sayin make it 2020 w/o any extra buyout.

i see what you meant now.

I mean, we can't retain him and not give him the ability to sit in front of recruits and parents and assure them that he has at least 2 seasons under contract. That's fair, and he should have assurance that if progress continues he will be rewarded at the end of next season.

9 wins and bowl win, 2 years guaranteed
Get 10 wins in 18 and you get more

In today's recruiting world, you have to leave some sort of buyout or the negative recruiting will win. Without a buyout, you're just setting up your coaches to fail in the recruiting trail. Any new buyout has to be reasonable and "deceptive" (smoke and mirrors). I think all parties can agree that it can't be all guaranteed. We also have to make sure he has incentives to keep him motivated.

he'll still have 10m dollars worth of buyout after this year. that's enough.
