I'll wait to see the replacement before being that upset we dropped it. I would prefer a B1G team like OSU or PSU over another PAC school

If it's some shitty P5 team though then frick Hyman

I'm going either Stanford or Ohio State.

this was about the home game swap, not the opponent. In 2018, due to the dumb Jerryworld game, we only have 3 conference home games and we were scheduled to go to Eugene. That would have limited us to 6 home games.

We have 4 conf home games in 19 when they were scheduled to come here. We asked Oregon to swap years and they couldn't accommodate so we canceled. 18/19 is far enough away that we should be okay plus we still haven't scheduled anything for 17 so we can do a 17/18.

I guess my point is, it's not really Hyman's fault. This year was bad enough, but the idea of playing only 6 home games again with this much warning is pretty much a no-go.

Yeah I understand why they canceled it, I'm just going to be pissed if it's a significant downgrade in the quality of opponent. I would assume they had someone lined up when they canceled though. I haven't looked at schedules or anything for that year but Stanford would certainly make sense

ETA Doubt it's Stanford or OSU from looking at their schedules unless they're dropping someone as well

Penn State actually looks like a pretty solid possibility. They have openings in those years and just have Pitt scheduled as far as bigger name programs go

I imagine they did. Va Tech has been long rumored but fitting it in has been the problem. Anyway, I think everyone is disappointed in the Oregon deal but I'm just happy they addressed it now rather than in 2016 or something and be stuck with Wake Forest.

The bigger problem in all this is how the Arkansas neutral site game really hamstrings us in scheduling. Especially now that many leagues will be on 9 game conf schedules with 5/4 splits, it basically cuts the field in half as they won't sign a deal to be away on the 4-split year.

I am OK with this. I get why you play Power 5 OOC games, but I prefer ones where if we win there is a local recruiting benefit. Playing Arizona schools, Cali schools, or someone like Ohio St. is perfect.

Screw giving Oregon more exposure in Texas. We should have dropped the deal back when they stole AG Swag.

I'll be shocked as shite if it is an actual even trade. No really, I'll be fricking surprised as all get out. What with the Cannon fiasco, the field divots, and other dumb decisions by this athletic dept, the next time they make a decision and don't have to quickly defend it will be the first.

I'm betting its Washington State or Illinois. Something on that level.

Clemson is NOT a "Top 15" opponent.

Same. Not exciting, but not underwhelming either.

Nebraska perhaps?

ETA: they are full - if the B1G is at 9 games then

Seriously?!!???!!!??? ClemfrickINGson??? Damn it to hell. Oregon is a really nice place. Clemson not so much.

Here is to scheduling a home and home with UNLV (gambling), Nevada (gambling), Washington, Hawaii, Stanford or Cal.

Stanford is full for 2019 as of now and plays UVA and @ Notre Dame in 2018.

Cal doesn't have much scheduled then. Would y'all consider Cal an equal replacement for Oregon (since Washington State was not considered on that level)? Although, who really knows by 2018...

How about UW? (Either Washington or Wisconsin)?
