When you look at our potential starting 1-deep on defense it's actually very encouraging:

D-line
Garrett
Williams
Walker
Hall

Linebackers
Hilliard
Alaka
Washingt'n/Walker

Safety
Watts
Evans

DB
Williams?
Harvey/Harris

Nickel
Burns

That may be but I doubt he will start for awhile. Coaches will trust their experiences guys and rotate Mack in heavily I suspect.

I'm not a fan of Hardreck Walker starting at nose. He's too upright and doesn't get enough leverage when he moves. I'd rather see Henderson start if not Mack.

Edit: Nor am I a fan or Burns at Nickel. He does not have a nose for the ball. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's why they moved him to safety and Ellis to nose.

I really think we have a chance to see a good jump in LB performance.

Cornerback really scares me this coming year...especially given Chavis' scheme.

Was about to say something similar. I don't think Burns is "starting" nickel. I think we'll work packages the gets Evans, Watts(more of a nickel role), and Dunning/Pryor/Wilson on the field together.

I was thinking this too, but then I thought hell we were giving up huge plays with 10 yard cushions anyway.

Now, maybe we might break up a pass or two and not get routinely gouged with the short passes.

Well it's not like we were that impressive on offense last year either. I understand KA was a freshman, but senior players did not do a good job of stepping up either.

It's fair to say we ha e a little uncertainty on that side of the ball as well.

Agree. There is a lot of room for improvement offensively and I hate that it keeps getting over looked. We were not that good offensively last year imo.

This is why I think the ceiling is so high this year.
