Did Hagen go to any camps to learn how to defend a wheel route yet?

Hagen started a JUCO transfer, true freshman that played QB in HS, and a 3 year WR at LB last year. May be a bit early to lay it on him. He's certainly the coach I have the most questions about, but from people that would know, by all accounts, he's a great coach.

The whole concept of the wheel is a delayed route. It preys on the inexperienced. Once Bama showed how hard our LBs bit on PI, teams drew up specific plays for us. An experienced guy can recognize concepts. Our one experienced LB was a great athlete but simply didn't read the game well.

saw Hamm or Perroni or someone downplayed Kyrion Parker's surgery and said it was minor and he should be back soon and shouldn't miss much if any time. I was told (and posted a page or two back) that he'll probably miss the rest of spring the other day but I thought maybe I got bad info. Tonight's tweets

@kyrionparker how surgery go?

@Kennyhill13 it went good but hurts like hell and I can't walk yet bro ??

Last day of spring practices is April 5th.

More Jeremy Fowler with Urvan Meyer talking football concepts. He briefly mentions the OSU-A&M-Clemson pow wow.

Also the white board picture he drew is a play called Y-Stick that we run relentlessly. We absolutely abused Bama with it in '12. The basic concept is you either run an inside zone play to the RB or you throw to the Y.

It's a read the QB makes as the ball is snapped. He reads the LB and if he is in the tackle box you throw to the Y on a 7 yd stop pattern. If he's outside the tacklebox you run a dive play away from him. In both cases, the OL blocks like it's the inside zone.

It's incredibly simple but incredibly hard to defend.

While just a practice, today they let reporters see 11v11 for a bit. Here was the depth chart

QB - Joeckel, Allen (wouldn't read into this bc I've been told all 3 have been rotating with 1st and 2nd teams)
RB - Carson, White (neither of the Williams were practicing today)

LT - Ogbuehi, Linblade
LG - Gramling, Stuckey (interesting)
C - Matthews, Compton
RG - Cheek, Elemuenor
RT - Ifedi, Gennesy

don't know WR positions unfortunately
WR - Noil, Tabuyo
WR - RSJ, Williams
WR - Quiv, Reynolds
WR - Holmes, Clear

We were in a dime and 335 so read into that what you will

DE - Ty Taylor, Manning
DT - Zo Williams, Godwin
DE - Obioha, Schorp (yeah, we're this thin right now)

LB - Bass, Chevis
LB - Washington, Hilliard
LB - Baggs / Dime - Sezer

Nickel - Ellis, Sezer (played on both 1st and 2nd)
CB - Harris, Garner
CB - Davis, Coleman
S - Matthews, Burns
S - Honeycutt, Wiggins

Number of other guys missing obv (Henderson, Raven, Mastro, Everett)

Not sure I follow. Other than Chevis behind a walk-on at MLB, I don't find much that even looks odd. Well, other than half our team being out.

I'm pretty sure guard

It definitely seems like we are recruiting guys who can play every position along the line though, which I like

tAirRaid generally uses really wide splits so everyone is a tackle essentially. You're looking for pass blockers that can hold their own on an island.

Don't get me wrong, it's a different position, but what we look for are all tackles really. The ones with elite length and feet end up at tackle and the rest fill in inside. I think Wilson will end up as an inside guy but I'm honestly not sure where he's practicing.

obviously its just him posting the shite he did, but him grabbing 2 TDs has to be a good sign of where he is health wise

everything I've been told is RSJ is completely healthy. Sumlin is just babying him a bit. I think he's a little annoyed by it (not pissed but he wants to be out there more).

The thing is, there are certain guys that are so key you just don't risk stuff. Same reason why QBs wear special jerseys in practice.
