Yep. That's why I assume that there was something to it. But then his being with the team in Nashville makes no good sense.

and it looks like we never did. Gabe confirmed in a TA thread that nobody on the A&M staff had ever mentioned Speedy being suspended.

Funny how they didn't shoot down these "rumors" when they came up during transfer-gate . They let them run...I wonder why??? Maybe a 'just in case' scenario?

An enigma wrapped up in a mystery. Or vice versa.

Agreed that Sumlin doesn't owe me, or us, anything.

I respectfully disagree.

Our interest in the program as fans is the reason he makes $5MM/yr. If we ceased buying tickets or watching on TV he'd be selling insurance. He does owe us, particularly season ticket holders, as stakeholders in the program. Just like a major corporation doesn't divulge all of its secrets in its communications to/with shareholders, we don't need an excessive amount of detail, but insight into the direction of the program, truthful yes or no answers on major issues, and the the quashing of rumors, particularly ones being printed and widely disseminated, are some of the unpleasant duties that come with the job. I have to do lots that I don't like or don't consider essential at work and I make nowhere near $5MM.

He especially shouldn't add to the unnecessary and unproductive secrecy by being condescending and rude about it and making bald-faced lies in public. Sumlin is a brat like many of his players - I don't know if their Millennial attitude has rubbed off on him or if it was the other way around.

He thinks he's Bill Belichick, but he's no Bill Belichick. He's a drunken joke.

There's a difference between being buddy-buddy with reporters and outright lying to them and to the fanbase through them. Which Sumlin did when he was asked about Kyler being absent from practice amid (accurate) rumors that he was tranferring, to which he responded "he's at home sick".

Maybe he called in and said he was sick.

Bet we go with a lot more of the two-back set with Carson and White, and hell, might even see Davis get in there more.

How many suspensions does this make for Speedy?

Nobody on staff says Speedy is suspended.
Yesterday, Speedy practices in Nashville. Reasonable people would take that to mean that he was never suspended or that he worked his way out of it.
Today for the first time, Sumlin says Speedy is suspended. So why is he in Nashville? And why couldn't you just say that yesterday rather than "Speedy is at practice"?

I don't expect an answer. It's just odd to me. The "Speedy is at practice" thing makes me think Sumlin is playing some kind of fricked up game with the press.

Gotchya. I think 247 scooped everyone, and Sumlin wasn't ready to announce until today, so that's why we had not heard anything official.

And I agree that Sumlin is obsessed with misdirection, and frankly it seems to be hurting more than it's helping.
