Turns out Speedy made the trip to Nashville and was spotted on the practice field today.

Does this mean the reports of a 2 game suspension were incorrect? Or is he simply there to run some QB on practice squad so the defense can prepare for UL's Lamar Jackson who is a very mobile guy?

quote:

It was widely reported on December 17th that the Aggies' sophomore wide receiver had been suspended for the game in Nashville and the 2016 season opener. However, we were told by a trustworthy source that Noil did travel with the team and was at practice on Sunday afternoon on the Vanderbilt campus.

A&M coach Kevin Sumlin spoke to a small gathering of media on Sunday evening prior to the Music City Bowl official welcome party. He was asked by TexAgs for clarity on the situation.

“You tweeted today that he was at practice,” Sumlin said. “Yeah, he’s at practice. He’s at practice.”

Sumlin did not unveil whether or not Noil will play in the game.

LINK

and yes, the link is to TexAgs.

hopefully some of you who have the propensity to about Liucci can handle that.

Sumlin's need for extreme secrecy, the delight he takes in obfuscation, and his combativeness with the media will all contribute to his undoing. It's strange and unbecoming that he takes it that far. It's really unnecessary and I have to think there will be people lining up to relieve themselves on his coaching grave, so to speak.

Loved this attitude...when everyone doubted us and we were doing really well in 2012.

Now that shite is hitting the fan in 2015, it certainly is getting old quickly.

I believe it was Perroni with 247 that reported the suspension. Wonder if he got bad information? Jumped the gun?

I know there were reports ~2013 that Sumlin and Hyman did not agree on player suspensions. Maybe this is a continuation of that.

I've never liked his I know something you don't know bullshite. I understand there are some things that need to kept in house but he takes it to ridiculous extremes.

He enjoys it and it's transparent that he does. That's what really sticks in my caw, and I'm just a fan. Imagine the schadenfreude the media is going to experience when he goes down. I don't think the media needs to be pandered to, but just goading them for fun isn't a smart play.

Would there also be schadenfreude when the next coach cuts pubes off?

Exactly. If our team was doing well no one would care.

Put me down as someone who thinks that fans (myself included sometimes) and the media feel too entitled to get information. If we liked the taste of the sausage then no one would care how it's made. But even if we don't like the sausage sticking the process under a microscope and putting a dozen amatuer chefs in the same kitchen isn't going to fix it.

Sumlin obviously believes in his secrecy, he wouldn't let Malik in on Chavis even though that lost him. At the end of the day Sumlin is going to sink or swim on his own, and if his methods don't get him the good class we need or the good hire we need it will be his career that pays the price.

Ehhh... there's a difference between not bending over backwards for them, which I don't think coaches should do either, and intentionally antagonizing them. Being perpetually condescending and even petulant like Sumlin isn't wise.

The only reason he gets his massive salary is because there are fans interested in the sport and team he coaches in the first place and the media exists as his conduit to the fanbase.

Sumlin is a such a prick. These are the options.

1. Speedy is suspended, but Sumlin wanted him on the practice squad, but he won't be honest about him being suspended.

2. Speedy is not suspended. But Sumlin doesn't care about tarnishing his name for the sake of secrecy.

3. Speedy was suspended. But Sumlin decided to reverse it because he really needs this win, and control of the team continues to be on the back burner.

That won't happen. I wish it would, but it won't. TexAgs is in bed with Sharp and several other influential donors. For whatever reason, the Billy Liucci douche charm seems to rub off on them.

For whatever reason?

It's not mystery.

Sharp is like Liucci's Brother in Douchiness. They are two of a douche-kind. Two peas in a douche-pod.

Opposites actually don't attract when it comes to human social relationships - like-kinds do.

Malik was always going to sip

Sumlin was smart to not risk Chavis over Malik

It was more in reference to the BMAs.

Sharp just seems to think he owns the entire university and that without him, the university would be off worse (but of course, anyone that works in education will tell you otherwise). Sharp and the rest of Perry's cronies need to retire.

Pretty much this.

If he was accommodating of the media and easy to get along with (and things were going poorly), folks would say he needed to circle the wagons/keep his cards closer to the vest/quit being so buddy buddy with reporters/etc

Sumlin for whatever reason takes pleasure in deceiving the fanbase and suppressing information. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a rouse.

The best way to conduct information security is to reveal just enough that the audience thinks they know enough. A pseudo-trust if you will.

Sharp has been on a bit of a power trip. The stadium renovation was his baby and all the attention that comes with that has gone to his head.
