Lol the air raid was literally invented to mitigate Oline talent deficiencies.

It's so frustrating we moved from the offense we should run now, to the offense we should have ran from the start.

It's like I'm taking crazy pills.

Yep

Programs like tech couldn't recruit top oline talent so they developed quick release strategies that spread the field. It's not hard. Sumlin has run it I don't have a clue why he doesn't just call plays for the last half of this season, although I suspect it's because he hasn't called plays in many years.

The coordinator hire will be very telling on sumlins BS. He keeps saying we aren't moving away from air raid, but we clearly are. Either Sumlin wants us to get back to air raid, and can't because his OC is a moron, or he wants us to move away from the air raid, and our OC can't because he doesn't know how. Either way, it will be clear what Sumlin wants to do with this offense once a hire is made.

So Hamm said a couple of the "insider" posters are having to go quiet bc the AD is in "Fran mode" trying to figure out posters identities.

Really Kliff's year was the only true air raid year. Since then we've gone the Oklahoma route and kept the no-huddle aspect but made everything else vanilla. We use tempo very selectively (Kliff, Leach, and Mumme more or less floored it at all times), and our OL isn't really "spread" any more either, the splits are narrower and our guards are almost always three-pointed. Hell, Vanderbilt was the first game in forever I can recall us busting out the mesh and that's the Air Raid's bread-and-butter.

Yeah, you don't really get the full benefit if you substitute constantly and spend 20 seconds checking the sideline.

I find it hard to believe that an Eric Hyman led AD gives a shite.

If we had a fast pace offense that was based on quick release and taking advantage of match ups, we could probably skate by with our oline and still score points.

If only such an offense existed.

That would help, but that would still leave us without an effective running game of any kind.

Anyway, why the frick is Spav still around? When is that slapdick gonna get the axe?

AggieRojo, the dude with the 2k reply OC thread, is saying the new guy is Spurrier. My guess is he's full of shite, but there's his prediction.

A run game is nice, but it's a myth that we need one to have success in this conference. Further, a fast run game is very possible in the air raid. People who say that just don't understand the air raid. It is meant to exploit weakness in a defense and create weakness to some extent.

That guy got lucky once by guessing. He just likes the attention.

That's my guess too. I'd be very surprised if he actually knows anything.

I don't think I'd like Spurrier. He had a great run, but he's 70 and I'm not sure how much energy he has left in the tank.

Sorry, I meant this year with our OL. In other words I meant that even with true air raid playcalling, we wouldn't have been able to run the ball this year.

I wouldn't like Spurrier either nor his son. Steve Spurrier looks like he is done coaching. He may not sound like it, but he should have retired 2 years ago and taken a TV job with the SEC Network. Maybe replacing the awkward Pauk Finebaum on SEC Nation is a better fit for him.
