The only reason why I think he'd say no is because he has been courted a lot recently, if he is patient he can land a big job soon. (imagine if a Michigan type got rid of Hoke after this season for example)

Morris has virtually no change to even be considered for such a job. There are several big job openings every year, and the ones that go to coordinators are very very few. The ones that go to coordinators with zero ties are non-existent.

Just thru the prominent SEC jobs with hires in the past decade-
A&M - Sherman (former NFL head coach), Sumlin (midmajor HC)
LSU - Les (lower P5 HC)
Bama - Saban (NFL head caoch)
Arkansas - Petrino (NFL HC), Beliema (P5 HC)
Auburn - Chizik (lower P5 HC), Malzahn (midmajor HC)
UGA - none though Richt was a coordinator
UT - Kiffin (NFL HC), DOoley (midmajor HC), Jones (midmajor HC)
SC - Spurrier (NFL HC)
UF - Meyer (midmajor HC), Muschamp (coordinator)
Mizzou - none but Pinkel was a midmajor HC

So of 14 hires, 1 was a coordinator and Muschamp had ties to UF. The only major schools you could say Morris has ties to are Clemson, A&M, and tu. 2 of those have come open while he's been a hot name and he wasn't even considered for either.

His choice will likely be midmajor or lower tier P5. That's okay, but imo, midmjaor is a better path. There is an easier schedule to deal with and there is a lot less pressure. One like SMU situated in DFW and that pays well, well, that's a gem provided they give you the proper support.

basically what I want to happen is Chad Morris goes there to get some HC experience and is good enough to step in at A&M whenever Sumlin decides to scratch that NFL itch.

Ewww no. I think Meat Chicken is showing everyone the "Michigan Man" concept is flawed. Plus I remember Chad saying crappy things about our SEC move which could be used against him now in recruiting.

If we offer him 4 or 5 mil to be head coach he will do the SEC chant at the press conference

Just because he's an Aggie, it doesn't mean a person is properly vetted and the best man for the job. The Michigan man Aggie guy way of thinking is stupid. The good ole boy network was how the athletic department got so far behind the 8ball in the first place. The objective outside eyes were the ones who righted the ship. Let Morris become qualified and pray that Sumlin is more like Stoops and less like the former college-nfl coaches filling the mass graves of the nfl cemetery

I don't want him just b/c he is an Aggie. I want him b/c he would continue to run a high octane offense and has amazing Texas HS connections for recruiting. Plus, if he is able to clean up the mess at SMU he will have proven himself to be a very capable HC.

I agree with all this. I wouldn't want him straight from a coordinator job though. Only after he's proven himself at mid major type program like SMU at minimum

Didn't Sumlin get hired because he is some regent's running buddy? It seems like our Good old Boy clock just was on the right time twice a century.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind associations with A&M. I personally think Sumlin won the right to be Aggie HC back when he beat OU. That was the most exciting win for a decade.

I just think the logic of hiring an alum is flawed. Doesn't make them more loyal, doesn't make them stay off the market. All it does is make the coach harder to fire if you have to, or make it hurt more if he leaves for another job. Red Raiders might soon get that lesson.
