was there also one that broke down all ratings in major Texas markets or is that just info people have had to collect piecemeal from various sources?

I spoke with a direct tv rep today, and he seemed pretty certain that they would have a deal worked out before the beginning of the season, for whatever that's worth.

and some actual SEC Network news

Dari Nowkhah will host the SEC Now show (which near as I can tell is the SECN version of the Sportscenter). It appears Dari will anchor the 5pm (6 Eastern) slot.

I would be shocked if Direct TV caved before the season.

Don't need them though, with Cox onboard it is already the most successful college football network launch ever.

Math already looks like more than $10 million per team which is the magic mark:

That will mean more money than B1G until they redo Tier 1 in a few years.

I would like Directv to sign on because we could see $15 million per team, which is the magic point where Texas traded a good conference and rivalies to make the same Tier 3 money as Mississippi State.

Inaccurate. Don't be fooled by LHN math. ESPN agreed to pay $300m over 20 years but that <> tu getting $15m per year no matter how many times that is repeated.

per Bloomberg
quote:

After IMG agreed to cede its claim, Texas attracted offers from ESPN, Fox and two groups of investors with media industry and sports experience that were interested in selling a channel to distributors, Plonsky said. She declined to identify the investor groups. Fox Sports spokesman Lou D’Ermilio confirmed the company bid, without saying how much.

The school will pay IMG 17.5 percent of the $300 million.

And despite the constant $15m distribution, that's also not correct. It's graduated at 3% annually with the first year paying $11m. This school year will be the 4th year. That means the payout will only be ~$12m in total, which makes their cut approximately $9.9m.

If the SECN distribution is $10m this year, it will already equal LHN
