No, my argument is that it wouldn't have mattered.

I'm not sure why you think it wouldn't have mattered when it's clear as day that Knight was the better QB by a wide margin. Saying losing him in the Moo game wouldn't have mattered anyway is silly. It was a 7 point game. Not a blowout loss.

I think it would have mattered. Knight's not great, but Hubenak is dreadful. I think we would have won those games if Knight hadn't been hurt. Also, don't discount the psychological impact that Knight being out and crappy Hubenak being the only choice had on the team.

I think we probably beat Ole Miss if Knight is starting. MSU I don't know. We were playing like shite when Knight went down and he was really struggling throwing the ball. Hubenak actually played pretty well when he came in against MSU. I think that game probably ends the same as it did but who knows

And I don't think the MSU loss had as much to do with Knight or Hubenak but the fact we were completely helpless on defense. We got lucky as hell they only scored 7 in the second half with missed FG and redzone INT

His previews are usually spot-on, and this is no exception (outside of him mentioning Nick Harvey as currently playing). Right now it really comes down to whether you are cool with being average, or okay with swinging and missing and being shitty again until we strike gold.

That's the most impressively well thought-out and reasonable preseason review/prediction I've read. That guy's good.

UCLA - L we're due to lose the decent season opener against OOC
Nicholls - W lol
Ulala - W lol
Arkansas - see UCLA comment
South Carolina - W lol
Bama - W I gotta feeling
Florida - L use all effort and emotion on the Bama W
State - L Fitzgerald will be better this year. Our D, not so much
Auburn - W nothing really witty to say here
New Mexico - W lol
Ole piss - W will they even care at this point?
LSU - W see Arkansas reasoning

8-4 sumlin keeps his job unfortunately, but we land Another solid class to keep the Kool aid flowing and jars filling prematurely

Hamm keeps saying - on twitter and on a podcast - that he thinks Starkel is a future NFL QB and that he's going to be the real deal for A&M.

Hamm's been fired by 247 and blacklisted by the Program, so he has no motivation to just pump sunshine, sell koolaid, and blow smoke up everyone's asses. If anything, he'd be motivated to be negative or at least brutally honest. Yet he keeps insisting Starkel is legit.

As it happens, that dovetails with the rumor lately that the reason we passed on Studham is because Sumlin feels he needs to prove that he can recruit and develop his OWN QB and he feels confident that Starkel is that guy.

I hope he's right

Was it ever proven that he was actually black listed?

I don't think a damn thing was ever absolutely proven. I don't have a dog in the fight, either way. I don't know him from Adam and haven't ever subscribed to anyone's service.

FWIW Trent Dilfer was extremely high on Starkel when he saw him at Elite 11 a couple years ago. LINK

If Starkel does end up being a good/above average QB, then we absolutely could have a good couple of seasons ahead of us. We essentially haven't had a stable & good QB since manziel. Kyle Allen was pretty good and showed some nice spurts of slinging the ball well, but he also had some boneheaded plays too. He probably would've been a really good qb had he stayed all 3-4 years and had a good developer for a qb coach, sadly neither of those things happened so we will never know.

But I think Starkel is a bit young to be putting all our season's hopes on just yet. Certainly do hope the guy turns out to be a good one though.

I think this is the year that Arkansas and SC catch up - Muschamp always gives us fits, and SC has the best QB in the SEC

Arkansas has the best QB in the SECW. I originally thought FL would be a W, but the team will be so decimated after the Alabama loss that I'm thinking L now

Umm... Oct. 1, 2016 at Columbia. Texas A&M 24, USC 13.

Not a runaway victory, but Muschamp certainly didn't give the Aggies "fits".

I'm with you on Arkansas, though, and would predict a Hog victory to get to 1-5 except frick Arkansas.
