Me too, but I wasn't sure who else to pick from the BigTen. Not Meyer or Harbaugh. Maybe Durkin.

I don't see guys like Durkin as shooting for the moon. I like him as a realistic candidate for our job but I took "shooting for the moon" as huge names. Who knows though

Yeah, I guess go ahead and remove Mullen from my list and add saban. Moon shooting season. Sniff around.

My top 5 with some possibility of happening would be Peterson, Durkin, Fitzgerald, Franklin and Fuente.

I'd call up Peterson and ask him to name his price, and offer full coverage for all his son's medical care at the Houston Med Center. Give him 100% control of the program and coaching hires and tell him he has an open checkbook to hire his pick.

If we somehow landed Chris Petersen, it would be open season on A&M graduates up here.

A&M already stole their President and Athletic Director, why not their head coach too?

That being said, I want no part of Lorenzo Romar.

Make them say no. Just because they will doesn't mean you shouldn't reach out

Do people in our AD actually think Petersen is a possibility?

I honestly don't know

The good news is I'm confident we'd be able to get Durkin, he has a definite ceiling at Maryland.

His son is fully recovered. It was a talking point on why it was the right time for him to leave Boise.

Btw he interviewed for USC first and didn't get it, then back filled sarkisian. I know he's a western guy but his loyalty to regional roots are over sold.

I will say though that UW does not sell out their stadium, even with a playoff contender:

Their stadium capacity is officially listed as 70,083.

Rutgers - 58,640 (83.7% and it was not even that full, I was there)
Idaho - 60,678 (86.6%)
Portland State - 57,151 (81.5%)
Stanford - 72,027 (102.8%)
Oregon State - 65,796 (93.9%)
USC - 72,362 (103.3%)
Arizona State - 65,467 (93.4%)

They averaged 63,732 per game, which is 91% of capacity.

We'd also be able to money whip them. I just don't think he'd be into leaving a contender that he built for another rebuild

The impression I get is that there are 2 levels of unattainable coaches:

1. Guys who are unattainable for $6-8 mil (which is about as high as any school has been willing go to this point)

2. Guys who are unattainable at any $ value because the school they are already coaching for can and will match basically whatever number.

I think the only 3 guys in category 2 are Saban, Meyer, and Harbaugh.

Then it just becomes a matter of raising the money to pay someone $10 mil/yr. and deciding which of the remaining coaches are a sure enough thing to warrant that kinda money.

That becomes throw away money paying a coach 6-10/yr. Are those guys really worth losing Sumlin to if the buyout would be similar?

My guesses
3 Big Ten, 2 ACC and 1 SEC/PAC-12

Chryst - not going to happen
Franklin - not going to happen
Myer - not going to happen

Fisher - not going to happen
Dabo - not going to happen

Mullen - he's going to Florida
Petersen - not going to happen

At least we will shoot for the moon first. That is an improvement

It isn't just him. Coming from 247, and from Liucci (reluctantly) on Texags.com as well

Well it's good to hear he's not the only one saying it.

Our BOR is sentimental, I'm sure Durkin is one of the names just by virtue of kicking arse at DKR
