I'll probably write in Cruz as my protest vote

while I'm sure he better aligns with your beliefs, I don't think it has the same impact.

Our "two" political parties are funded by us. People don't realize it but we pay for all this stupidity. Their primaries are paid for with tax dollars. And there are significant barriers to entry for other options.

An independent candidate like Perot (or Bloomberg as was rumored) can only be a billionaire and can only be someone that begins his campaign in March or so (to get on the ballot in all states)

The biggest reason we don't have other parties is because they don't have the money to be heard.

from wiki
quote:

Minor party candidates and new party candidates may become eligible for partial public funding of their general election campaigns. (A minor party candidate is the nominee of a party whose candidate received between 5 and 25 percent of the total popular vote in the preceding Presidential election. The amount of public funding to which a minor party candidate is entitled is based on the ratio of the party's popular vote in the preceding Presidential election to the average popular vote of the two major party candidates in that election.

So it becomes this vicious cycle of "you're throwing your vote/donation away." They don't get the votes. They don't get the funding. They aren't a factor in the next election and it's more "you're throwing your vote away."

While voting for Cruz may well make you feel better, it won't change how the process works in the future which, at least for me, is the primary goal

This is proof that the Republican Party can be saved

Amazing. Trump cannot win, period. The majority of the country sees him for the clown he is. And if by a miracle he DOES win, it will be the death of the GOP. There's no way the party can survive getting that buffoon elected.

I'll be holding my nose and voting for Ms. Clinton. I sure won't feel good about it.

He might be able to if they can get rid of that pesky women's suffrage.

Closer, but still no cigar. As of April 1 (hmm...) 58% of men have an unfavorable opinion. 70% of women.

Hillary is going to annihilate Trump. That much is certain. The only question in November is how much damage will be done to down-ticket Republicans.

Don't tell the politics board, their insulated thought bubble is convinced Trump will win

Both Rubio and Kasich thumped her in nearly every general election poll.

Same here.

I seriously might not even vote. This whole election is a goddamn farce.

I hear what you're saying, and if it looks like a third party is making waves, I'll consider it. But near-term I think pumping up Cruz to run again in 2020 has better odds of making a difference.

That said, I have been seeing reports of big spikes in google searches on the LP, so who knows.

The only possible way Trump wins is if Hillary is actually indicted. And that ain't happening.

I've avoided this thread but I'll just drop by to say support Gary Johnson. The politic process is a joke and the two options suck. Even if you're not 100% on board with Libertarianism, a decent number for him could change the process in the future.

And I'll say for the record, if Texas is even remotely close, I'm voting Hillary. frick me

Although I would vote for Johnson anyway, because while Texas might be a swing state, it won't be the swing state because at that point the map is so poisonous for Trump he's losing by 200

Is the bet that you will literally be forced to kneel before God-Emperor Trump, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas, or that Donald J. Trump will win the presidential election?
