Just curious, what problems other than run defense?

Because Bama struggles to pass and struggles to defend the pass. We are on the other hand good at passing and defending the pass.

Oline, no running game, our secondary hasn't been tested yet and while Bama isn't a passing juggernaut they have the most talent at WR we have seen yet and until our DBS prove it they are suspect even though they have played well against lesser competition so far.

I disagree, Arky, ASU, and MSU were all legit power 5 tests of our pass defense.

And we passed those tests in my opinion

Well Tunsil has been made eligible effective Oct 24th

The day of our game

Is he allowed to practice with the team before then? Just can't play?

Agree completely. We may get torched by Bama, who knows. But our pass defense has been excellent so far.

Was Ole Miss a fluke? Didn't Bama turn it over 5 times?

Likely. Bama turned it over 5 times; Ole Miss scored after the first four and the fifth was at the end of the game to seal the deal. Otherwise Alabama would have won easily.

But Ole Miss effectively stopped Derrick Henry.

Bama whipped Georgia badly at Georgia, could Georgia have been that overrated?

Reverse of Ole Miss in that Georgia had two late turnovers which Bama used to its advantage. Plus that game was in a driving rainstorm (the initial rain from Hurricane Joaquin).

Our problem is run defense (or maybe we should call it run _efense).

Pretty sure Bama fumbled on a couple of kickoff returns against OM.

They fumbled on the opening kickoff of the game which OM turned into a field goal.

I don't necessarily believe overrated applies to Georgia just over hyped

Miss State would beat both Tennessee and Georgia

Bama Offense:

Bama got 2.9 YPC vs Arkansas. In contrast, we got 3.2 YPC vs the hogs. There's a reason Kiffin is passing the ball a lot: Bama isn't a dominating force running the football. Bama was lining up in spread formation more often than not against arky and was running a HUNH for most of the game. They definitely have some talent at WR, but there is a significant drop off after Ridley. They threw a LOT of bubble screens, which I think is great for us. Not a lot of quick passes besides that. Our secondary is better than Arkansas's, and Coker is an INT machine. Get in his face and he takes risks he shouldn't. If Kiffin comes out and tries to pass it on 1st and 2nd down, we have a pretty good chance, if he decides to run between the tackles, we will have problems.

Bama Defense:

Anytime Spavital calls a run up the middle, we should just kneel it and eat the down. There is no way we are going to do what Arkansas couldn't. They were catching Collins at the line consistently with only 5-6 men in the box. I doubt they get out of Nickel on saturday against us, because they don't need to. If we want to win, we MUST develop a run game and that means copying OM and using sweeps and running to the outside. Kylar isn't going to be a nice-to-have, getting him on the field to keep Bama honest is going to be a MUST. Secondary didn't really get tested against Arkansas, but in previous games they are definitely the weak spot. A lot of what we did against MSU and Arky should work as well against Bama.
