My favorite delusion is that Miami will clean up this mess for them so they are free to get Herman.

My favorite is that Red is going to contribute to Miami's efforts to take Charlie from them, they're going to hire Herman, get a slam-dunk AD, leave the conference in 2019, inherit all the SEC's momentum because Saban will be gone (apparently he's the only reason why the SEC is so popular) and get this all done in time to be peaking again just as SA/ATX gets a joint pro team in New Braunfels (becuase Jerry is going to allow his satellite Cowboys city, SA to be taken from him) so that the new NFL team doesn't steal their thunder. They have a supposed "big donor" who is saying this.

Some of you may recall I posted here after the TCU game. I won't say my name but I am a booster, no one really high up or anything but lets say I know things around the program you don't often hear about or when you do its usually thru a media outlet after the lid is blown off. I monitored a few replies but wasn't very vigilant. Some of you thought I was a fake, some didn't. About what I expected. Anyway here is what I know and am hearing

1. There are 3 jobs presently "open" that are attractive to CS and he is attractive to them for similar and differing reasons. Miami, UCF and South Carolina. I have on solid authority SoCar has expressed to Charlie that job is his if he wants it. To my knowledge he has not told them no. He coached there about 10 years ago under Holtz and still has friends there. It would also allow him to recruit Florida effectively and it is in the South East where his heart is.

2. He has expressed to a few people and is widely believed he regrets coming here. He was hoping to wait Muschamp at Florida but once Bridgewater left and Texas came along at 5M he couldn't say no. Now with the 3 jobs above open it is expected he will take one of those. He is exactly what Miami wants in terms of discipline but the issue is his struggles here may be a tough sale to the fan base which is basically invisible in Coral Gables. UCF is sleeping giant with a 40k enrollment and great location. He would have little interference and 5 years to make it work

3. We are 90% of the way done with a new AD. Cant say who but its a home run and he wants to use this time before the announcement to tend to someone in his family who is having a difficult "season" if you will. I don't know who he will hire but don't be surprised if its a guy who doesn't necessarily adhere to the tradiotnal air raid/ texas HS/Big 12 way of offense and program building. Which leads me to...

4. Our time in the Big 12 will be up by 2019, 2020 at the latest. First of all this will benefit from us a recrtuimg standpoint because once the conference folds TCU and Baylor will come crashing down to earth. We don't always go for the same caliber of players but it will put Texas back in the driver seat of the state. SEC dominance is largely based on history at this point, and once Saban leaves for the NFL (very strong chance after season I am told) or retires it will come crashing down.

5. The time to get things in order is now. People close to Red have told me a nfl team will be in Central Texas by the end of the decade and maybe as soon as 2017. It is believed the Rams are the lock to go to LA and the chargers or raiders will either give it a another year or become tenants in the stadium if Kroenke allows. The raiders are more open to being tenants, the chargers aren't. One of those teams will eventually be in SA/Austin. That being said, the horns need to be a well oiled machine when this happens or it could be second fiddle. The proposed plan the raiders viewed was 5 or 6 games in the alamodome and 2,3 games in DKR while a stadium is built NE of SA perhaps as far as New Braunfels or San Marcos. The Panthers did a similar type of arrangement when they began in Carolina.

6. Charlie's fate at least by the schools hand won't be decided until after the season. I can say any goodwill he gained from the OU game evaporated last nite. The key here is what does CS decide? If he goes on his own then the buyout can be dropped or forgotten. He isn't a fool, he knows after next year he is likely a dead man walking

Having lived in San Antonio, I can say that the subset of the SA population that are NFL fans are all Cowboys fans. I'm pretty sure I've read that the Cowboys get as good of ratings in SA as they do in Dallas. Jerry is not ignorant of that. The idea that Jerry would allow SA to get an NFL team is just . He definitely has the political clout both within the NFL and the state of Texas to shut that down. And he could and would go to Bob McNair and get his support. PLUS, there are other markets that would get a crack at an NFL team before San Antonio + Austin. Particularly since it's well established that that area is already Cowboys Land and because the NFL franchises live on corporate dollars, which are sorely lacking in San Antonio. San Antonio is call-center land. A lot of big companies have call-centers there but it isn't home to corporate HQ aside from HEB and Valero. Don't count USAA because they are a bunch of tightwads. Military bases aren't going to buy suites. Austin is full of baristas. There's some money there in the hills and in close to downtown, but not nearly on the level of a city that supports an NFL franchise. Austin people think they have a lot of rich citizens until they visit the Park Cities or River Oaks and then they're like...oh... There are tech companies there but, aside from Dell and Freescale Semiconductor, they're either money-losing VC-backed upstarts or branch offices of the mother company in California, like AMD.

Saban landed in the SEC in 2000. How did the SEC do before then? Well, in the 20 years prior to his arrival, the SEC had a .619 win% against the other major conferences. The next best conference was the B1G at .525.

So yeah, obviously the SEC is doomed without Saban.

If this guy actually is hearing anything (and I can believe he's hearing that the SEC is going down, as that's the kind of delusional wishcasting I expect from a group as arrogant and simultaneously desperate as the horns), he's hearing that UTx isn't going to the SEC. If they go to any conference but the SEC, that will lock in our advantage forever.

Go read the Strong to Scar thread started by Pio on the SC board and see where SCrooster tells you why that is not going to happen. I believe SCrooster is a wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more credible source than this guy

Yes, please go away from the type of offense our high schools prepare our players to play and install a system they're unfamiliar with which doesn't take advantage of the great QB, WR, and pass-blocking OL the state produces. Because the attempt to switch to an "Alabama offense" worked SO WELL for Mack.

Yes please go to the PAC where you'll be viewed as hicks, have to travel huge distances, switch two time zones, and play your games at 11 pm. We'll play during our own afternoon and at 6 which our mutual recruits will actually be able to watch.

Chad Morris is below them. So is Todd Herman. Those are the 2 that would worry me. They want a name. Look at the last time around. Strong was like their 4th or 5th choice and that was still a fairly big name.

Not really. I don't think they even would because you'd always have to worry about him coming to a&m. They need to hire herman

Basically the best thing that could happen to A&M would be for UTx to go to the PAC. No tonly would that mean they'd never be able to join the SEC, but also, at least the Big XII makes them local and somewhat relevant in Texas. Once they're playing all their games in AZ, UT, and the West Coast, late at night, they're playing for nobody. Arizona is Mountain, but always on winter time. That's checkmate for us. The timezone issue is an insurmountable structural problem.

They'd never hire Chad Morris. Chad is an Aggie and they'd have to worry that he'd come home to momma just as he got them rolling.

If they get over themselves and hire Herman, then I'm officially freaking out. He can coach AND recruit.

I'm told Charlie Strong "cussed out" his Texas staff after Iowa State loss, told them staff "had been out coached."
