"Tan Fran" is still the single greatest thing to come from the Strong hire

It is. And it's even funnier that we can see the similarity clear as day, because we lived through it and have come out the other side, but they can't see it AT ALL because they're right in the middle of the forest; still loving that sand pit, living in the dorms, 4 rules to live by, MXT-whatever, running off all the players, tough-talking, Night of Champions, only getting 59 total yards against Arkansas, recruiting highly rated guys who can't qualify, 77-0, turning Reggie into an option QB, my man Tyrone Swoopes lifestyle.

How he lasted another two years after this still amazes me. Reggie McNeal had the greatest all-around tool set I've ever seen in a college QB (at least until Kyler Murray) and should have been a superstar. Destroying him was a mortal sin of coaching.

Their class would be 13th, ours 9th.

People laugh when I say that Reggie had a better college QB skillset than Vince Young, but I stand by it. Reggie was faster than Vince with a waaaaaaaaaay better arm but lacked Vince's size or running vision. Reggie was just completely misused which is why he's a historical footnote instead of a star.

The perfect offense for Reggie wouldn't have been the Manziel spread - Reggie wasn't a good dink and dunker because he had too much zip and not enough touch - it would've probably been one of Sherman's West Coast-lite hybridized offenses where Reggie's huge arm could've been utilized for long passes and his wheels could've done serious damage on broken plays that left the center of the field wide open.

Instead, we used his light frame as a option-based battering ram and totally negated his best weapon - his arm. Unreal. Then, with McGee, it was just shortside option into oblivion... I don't know how I mentally survived those years.

Talking about it still makes me sick. The option to short side of the field, over and over and over

Remember when half of them denied he was actually calling plays, while the other half tried to defend him as a decent OC

Dude is a modern day Les Koennig and it's amazing he got an OC job at a program the level of Texas

Their program, and Charlie Strong are hilarious as-is

But the sip bloggers make it so much more entertaining.

Exactly. It would be bad enough if he just incoherently stumbled and bumbled his way through any and all public statements, talked tough without anything to back it up, treated his players like babies in Stalingrad, recruited a ton of non-qualifiers and attitude problems, and chose to kick to start both halves... but the way the Horn bloggers glorify the guy as if he's some kind of revolutionary genius outsmarting everyone like Felix Dzerzhinsky merged with a born again hard ultimate bad arse like Thor in spite of the fact that he's a midget who only got 59 yards against Arkansas is just astounding. If you asked Horn bloggers to draw Charlie Strong they'd put a halo of light around his head like Eastern Orthodox church paintings of the apostles, but to everyone else the guy is completely out of his depth and flopping around like those whales that beach themselves.

The mantra that I'm yet to fully grasp is:

- Sumlin kicks someone off the team, we have a huge discipline issue and allow the players to run wild

- Strong kicks someone off the team, he is an iron fist that won't put up with bullshite. Clearly knows how to discipline his players

Yeah, it's so revolutionary and makes him such a forward-thinking firm disciplinarian and great man of history to state that one shouldn't steal, beat women, carry guns, or do drugs. It's almost as if those are already laws. Wow, whuolda thunk that the criminal justice system would've beat 'ol Charlie to the punch? My favorite is the first one, because of the irony - you see, the first "Core Value" is honesty, but Charlie stole the 'ol "Core Values" from Urban Meyer and has garnered a lot of positive platitudes from the media while pretending he came up with them.

Here they are at OHIO STATE:

Aside from that, these are by definition RULES, not "values". Values are things like "happiness", "integrity", "hard work", etc. You can say "I value a strong work-ethic." You can't say "I value 'no guns'" because that's a rule, not a value.

They also reinvented the Scottish pole toss games into championship goalpost moving as the main event.

Yeah, the kind of degenerates who need to be reminded not to bring a fricking glock to practice need a lot more than "core values". Reminds me of a Ron White bit about a website he found called "www.dontshakeababy.com", goes something like:

"Who do these people think they are helping? The kind of inbred meth frick that needs to see this site isnt going to helped by it. Not shaking a baby should be understood as a basic fricking life principle. If you go to this site, I bet they have links to similarly helpful sites such as "www.dontstickyourdickinatoaster.com" and "www.dontputaferretinyourass.com"."
