Texas A&M's 'brand master' Jason Cook hired by Baylor University

Jason Cook - who has worked the past 13 years in a handful of coveted communications positions within the Texas A&M System - reportedly is leaving Aggieland to oversee media relations and marketing at Baylor University, according to sources.

Cook served six years at the flagship as vice president for marketing and communications before crossing the street in 2013 from Rudder Tower to Kyle Field where he was hired as senior associate athletics director.

Neither Cook nor Baylor officials could be reached for immediate comment. The announcement was expected to be made this afternoon.

Cook’s new job as vice president over Baylor's marketing and communications department will come with a host of challenges as the private university in Waco continues to struggle with several scandals in the athletics department.

I don't like anything about this.

frick.

Jason is good people and I really look up to him as a marketing undergrad guy myself. Wish him all the best at my little sister's school, but man I hate to see him go.

Why the heck would Jason make a lateral move to such a small and lesser school?

He did a good job but it isn't nearly as big of a loss as your initial reaction in my opinion.

To change our brand we need more than marketing. We need substantive change at the university level and athletic level.

Damn that sucks. Losing him to MSU would have been one thing, but fricking Baylor?

Someone at Baylor heard we liked him and boom he was hired. Good thing Chad told them no.

I really think Jason Cook was another beneficiary of the SEC move and Manziel magic. What did Cook do?

That was my first thought as well. But all the marketing in the world won't help them if nobody listens to him yelling "Stop raping!"

There's only so much polish you can put on the A&M football turd.

Aggiefblife is Sumlin's baby.

Did Cook lock in the bevel?

Did Cook have anything to do with the university seal?

Does Cook have anything to do with block corp seating, dance team on the sideline, or the 100% apparel rights adidas contract?

No. That was a frickup that Malon Sutherland tried to do for almost 10 years and finally succeeded with a complicit commandant in 1996.

Of course, after 2 years it's a tradition and you know how willing our top brass is to "change tradition".

I'm a fan of Cook's. I know I'm biased.

MarketingAdvisor@mays.tamu.edu can only encompass so much of that. For what he COULD control, I think he did masterfully.

He was part of the administration that took the T-Star away from us. You cool with that?

Absolutely fricking not, and I will rebuke him to his face if I ever get the opportunity
