Not a fan, his DLines at LSU were below their standard

I would much rather have someone familiar with the TX recruiting landscape than Brick. Don't want

He wouldn't really be coaching. The DT "coach" doesn't really coach, that's just a job title. Terry Price coaches the defensive line. Our DT "coach" job is a recruiter.

Shouldn't his opinion hold more sway than random LSU fans on the internet?

LSU fans' opinions are like Donald Trump's political stances. They change when it favors them. It's well documented.

I have no problem with Brick replacing Hagen. Terry Price has been the D-Line coach while Hagen was the recruiter this past year. A Brick hire would be a perfect way to undermine the Texas brand and it would bring in a guy Chavis is comfortable with recruiting players for his system. As long as Terry Price continues to coach, I have no problem with the hire.

IDGAF who we hire, but undermining Texas would be fricking hilarious.

This.

People opposed to it aren't thinking about this the right way.

It doesn't matter if he's a good coach or not. He won't be coaching.

He'll be replacing Hagan in the recruiting role. Whether or not he's a stellar recruiter, he's regarded as better than Hagan, so it's an upgrade.

So: upgrade over the guy he replaces at what he'll be doing, undermine UTw. Win, win.

I want someone who can actually recruit, not someone who can just "undermine Texas"

We've been missing on too many top defensive players last few years

Brick isn't going to be the DLine coach he will just be coaching DTs. So I have no problem with the hire if its him- he'd be a huge upgrade over Hagen.

Any updates? From a free board

A&M made an official offer to Coach Haley and it will be more money than he's making in Austin. They mentioned this one could come down to whether or not Texas wants to make a counter offer. Rumor on Twitter that if Haley makes lateral move to A&M that Texas will go after DL Coach Sean Spencer of Penn State. Just a rumor right now and long way until we reach that point just throwing it out there. Not sure how much truth there may be here.

This would be a good hire. Chavis obviously trusts the guy. He must be a decent recruiter too. He was able to pull in D Christmas eventhough they had the commitment of 4 other defensive tackles in that class. It strengthens our ties in both TX and LA.

Where did you see that? Last I saw Burnt Orange Nation was saying the sips had matched our offer.

Yea, I saw that. There's an article on the numbers site (sip) saying that there's a report our there that he has agreed to the contract with A&M.

That's why I brought it here. I don't subscribe.
