Getting word two assistants are gone and a possible third. God help us I hope rumlin brings in some recruiters now that we have actual coaches at OC/DC

Dave C - confirmed gone
McKinney - looking that way
Hagan - possibility

we are going to be in the market for a bunch of new assistants

Those three you named are mediocre recruiters AND coaches.

McKinney is a decent recruiter but his position should be the best recruiter on the team. Also he has Houston region which has been a weakness for us.

True dat!

Considering he is an alumni and former coach of Jack Yates, he should have had Houston on lockdown.

I know we are looking to improve but I think the Sumlin thing to do here is Jr. takes over as Qb coach and we are done with the coaching changes. Where's the smoke on the other fires other than that's what we want?

We can only have 9 assistants on staff:

Mazzone x2
McKinney
Moorehead
Banks
Christiansen
Chavis
Price
Hagen
Joseph

That's 10. 1 has to leave at a minimum.

Seemed apparent last night that DC got some bad news. I have not seen anything official but friends and family going scorched earth on Twitter and he removed his A&M pics from his page as well.

Which is a good thing. I still can't believe shithead SDV was right about DC.

What the hell happened with DC? ESPN loved that hire and on numerous occasions said he was one of the best hires of the off season. Then he got here and we fielded our worst OL since 2008 (and we didn't have near the talent issues this year that we did in 2008. Instead we had poorly coached players in poorly designed plays).

Has his entire career been smoke and mirrors? Because if you just watched this past season, you'd conclude he had absolutely no idea what he was doing.

Square peg in a round hole? I imagine it was difficult to match his coaching to the abortion of an offense we had. Not sure why he takes the blame. It may be something internal that we know nothing about or it may be hat Mazzone wants his own choice in that position.

Of course EsipN loved the hire...

Our line was pretty awful at pretty much everything. I don't see how the offense we run matters all that much when defensive ends just run around our tackles.

Come on don't do the ESiPN crap. They don't have some secret agenda against us because they love Texas above all other schools. They had no issues at all with piling on Texas during this past year.

When I look at his career, he was successful and highly regarded until he go here, so I don't think he suddenly sucked or the rest was all smoke. We are the outlier, so something was going on here that made him ineffective. Or maybe ineffective isn't the right word... maybe he wasn't really allowed to coach. He could well have been totally handcuffed by other coaches or tried to make changes only to have them rescinded. I tend to think he was a square peg in a round hole here.

We should have known when he took a job that was technically a downgrade position-wise (he was a OC).

If they weren't pro-Texas they wouldn't care.

They didn't pile on Nebraska for their 5-7 season. Then again, Nebraska went against big gay orange in 2010-2011.
