We are never going to be like LSU for good and for bad. Kyle has had times when we were louder or crazier such as back in the '80s and 90's before the jumbotron. We have rolled back the ads and interruptions but the balance isn't quite there. It's still a show in the end and scripted, the Yell Leaders aren't allowed to be completely spontaneous.
LSU can get really loud and raucous but it is also over a line that Aggies won't want to cross. Being drunk and rude is encouraged at LSU games and that is just not going to fly at A&M, it's not our culture. Doesn't mean we can't be louder or more intimidating, we just have to do it our own way.
Also remember that LSU also is more fair weathered, they are famous for getting loud and crazy for big games at night but they also will bail if they aren't inspired, it's a very emotional fanbase.

After watching a replay of the game (yes, I'm still salty that I couldn't see it live ), seeing the atmosphere that Kyle Field just demonstrated,
Was about as far from my mind as the east is from the west
If that wasn't good enough, nothing will ever be. Goddamn I was so jealous of those that were in attendance

From my experience were louder throughout because we yell Aaaaaaaa on defense every single down. Most other fan bases can get loud, but it doesn't stay that way.

We go to a lot of games and most of them on the road. Some stadiums are pretty loud. I have been to see LSU 5 times... 3 times vs A&M. I can tell you from experience that LSU is loud at night. Of course, half of them are drinking pretty heavily. A 2:30 game is not nearly as loud as a night game.
Part of this is we just don't seem to have many night games at Kyle Field when it really matters. Seems every time I turn around LSU is playing a big game at night.
Said before but it gets the loudest when the D is playing great. 3rd and short is loud when our D is clicking. LSU is loud because they play great D. The D is what brings the noise because it is loud while the other teams offense is trying to call plays/audible/hear the snap count, etc... This is sustained noise and it gets even louder until the ball is snapped.
Kyle Field was never loud and intimidating because of the fan noise. Kyle Field was loud and intimidating because the D we played inspired the crowd noise. This is when it gets really loud. This is not going to change.

o strive to have an experience that emulates what you get at LSU. As far as I'm concerned, that is the greatest single environment for a big time college football game and a lot of that comes from being able to just feel how badly those drunk Cajuns want their team to kill their opponents. It's organic
I dunno man, I've been to a couple games at BR, and while the tailgating scene is really, really good, the actual fan enthusiasm during the game is.... lacking. They are pretty quiet most of the time in the stadium. Maybe it was the Miles Effect, but I was surprised and disappointed both times at the lack of noise (and a lot of fans left during the 3rd quarter while it was still tight) and atmosphere.

A&M band was deer in the headlights during the 4th quarter
Yell leaders weren't all that good either
biggest problem is the A&M side is just waiting around for all that jumbotron crap

Doing its best to kill atmospheres in every big college stadium around the country. The one at DKR is a crowd killer and ours has gotten almost as bad.
Also, band used to play during timeouts years ago. Now, anytime there is dead time instead of the band cranking up they want to trot out 3 or 4 people to honor and golf clap. Another atmosphere killer.
Just what it is now. Sad.

Correct Tridents, way too many people to "recognize" during time outs and not enough of the band. It's ludicrous. The Vol fans around me couldn't believe it.

weird thread. As I was rewatching the CBS telecast, I was struck how awesome the atmosphere seemed on tv and was thinking it reminded me of a Bama or LSU games I've seen only with less pom poms
Curious where you sit now. I think one reason old army has such "in my day" syndrome is because when you stop sitting in the student section, the atmosphere is worse. You'll never be a student again and it'll never seem as awesome

Ever since we joined the SEC, there's been less yell leader led yells and way, way, way less "hey everyone shut up and look at the jumbotron."
it's been so refreshing vs the late 90s early oughts. frick it got out of control with the constant barrage of Slovacek sausages and taco bell. It's good we don't have to be such whores any more

I was getting chills watching the replay.
The way the crowd exploded on Knight's last couple of TD's and Watts' game-sealing INT.....damn

I agree that LSU is the best. I grew up attending those games. I remember that stadium absolutely exploding when it was announced over the PA that unranked Stanford had just defeated #1 USC. LSU was ranked #2 and LOSING to Tim Tebow's Florida.
At that moment, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that LSU would be winning that game. It was one giant party. I can't imagine the fear that those Gators had. The whole LSU bench was slamming into each other and waving towels like mad men.
The simple "LSU" chant is the most iconic chant in sports. When your team scores a touchdown against the TIgers, and in the middle of your celebration, the entire team starts chanting "LSU!" at the top of their lungs, you feel like you can't win.

honestly, were you there on Saturday. That was the first game I've been back to since Sherman left and it was night and day.
For as much trolling as you guys do on the rant, many of you are seriously insecure when it comes to being proud of our own traditions.

You will hear the wind blowing for the next 5-10 years cause they won't be doing shite until they find a good coach, which the year will be extremely hard to find.

No, we just don't make noise the same way. Or at least we didn't when I was at A&M. Ours is polite and uniform, rather than chaos. I grew up in BR and my family still lives there so I've been to many games at LSU (probably more overall than I have been to in CS). My first CS game was when I was a freshman and I attended all home games while there. I haven't been back to A&M much since I graduated so I'm sure it has changed since I left in 2000, but at that time it didn't compare. I've also lived in Knoxville and Auburn at times so I have those as regular SEC benchmarks as well.
Now I mostly go to road games and I feel like our away crowd is usually non-existent compared to other visiting teams. When we bring our band it helps a ton, but with no band we don't compare.Visiting fans are spread out in the upper reaches except one lower level section. Yell leaders are ineffective and mostly people aren't paying attention to them. I don't get the same feeling when other teams visit. I only bring up the road games as it is a microcosm for the non-student sections which in many stadiums make up a larger percentage of the people.

Holy hyperbole
"One of the most iconic things in college football" is probably more accurate. There is some pretty iconic shite in the world of sports
