Don't get your hopes up. TCU is in on him too.
We add another. This time its Eldridge Armstrong III from San Diego St.
Brief scouting report on him:
We add another. This time its Eldridge Armstrong III from San Diego St.
Brief scouting report on him:
quote:
Armstrong was initially an intriguing two-way talent in high school, but settled in on the mound for the Aztecs where his low-to-mid 90s fastball and high spin rates have been especially effective in a relief role. Armstrong has some unique things going for him as he's a low-launch righty with some hop through the zone to go with a bit of arm-side run on this fastball. He generally lives 90-92, but can rush it up to 95 when he's hot. A mid-80s slider is his go-to secondary, though it lacks definitive shape and more often lives and dies off short break, coming off the fastball tunnel late. He'll need to develop a more consistent strikeout pitch as he matures, but the instrinsic traits here are appealing.

Sounds like a solid pickup

Stud! Very good center piece for the program moving forward

And Yeskie to LSU is now official ...

You were all over that one.

I have friends at LSU no matter what Sidewalk tells you

Yeah you nailed it lol wonder who we end up with
Posted on 6/30/23 at 8:28 pm to Ag_16
Am I reading into something that isn’t there? But this sounds like shots fired a little at Yeskie.

Our pitching sucked this year. That is on Yeskie. I think a change is good for both sides
Posted on 6/30/23 at 8:32 pm to Farmer1906
It definitely sounds like shots fired lol I like it!
Maybe Yeskie thought he was more valuable than he really was. At least that’s what I take from it

Yeskie and Schloss did not get along very well, especially this year. It seemed like Yeskie was coasting and none of the pitchers really improved. Look at the wording - we will find an elite pitching coach, not another elite pitching coach. Like I said, probably good for both parties.
Yeskie didn’t like being questioned for lackluster results.

Definitely good news for us. Aside from the 2022 postseason the performance of this pitching staff under Yeskie has been absolutely abysmal. Nowhere to go but up

Ags add Charlie Pagliarini from the portal. He’s mashed for Fairfield the last 2 seasons including 24 bombs last year. It was only the MAAC but a 1.4 OPS is still impressive.

Cortez to the portal. Wouldn’t be shocked if he’s following Yeskie. I’m not sure why though. I feel like Cortez is not developing for how talented his arm is.

Is lack of movement the issue with his fastball?
Posted on 7/6/23 at 6:37 pm to SafetySam
He walked like 8 per 9 last year

ERA was almost 12 in SEC play.

He’s got a talented arm. Perhaps under a new pitching coach he can realize his pot-oh nvm

Early moved to full time assistant coach. Well deserved!
