Aggies in the running for Wilson?

I think A&M is Wilson's backup plan. He isn't sure how he would be utilized in the new defense. Wilson's coach was in LSU this weekend speaking at a coaches convention. It is never good when TX coaches start traveling out of state.

I wouldn't even say we're his back up plan. We're probably 4th on the list behind sips, LSU, & bama. He said he's gunna visit again this summer though so who knows. Not being in the running for Dylan Moses is gunna hurt us w/ defensive recruits who want to play with him and Marvin is one of those guys. Not that he won't go to a diff school than Moses but they're pretty close from what I've heard. If they both go LSU captain crown will be a very happy man/woman

Wilson said on Mannie Netherly's periscope at the opening that his tops schools are A&M, Bama, LSU and USC. He's told recruiting sites that right now Bama and LSU are his top 2. And that A&M is his top in-state option and they are really starting to pull away from other in-state schools. A&M is well positioned but we still have work to do to get up his board, he's just starting to develop a relationship with Turner.

We have the home field advantage and I'd expect that we get Wilson on campus several more times this spring/summer.

Meh that isn't so bad for us. If we have a good season a lot of kids are uncommitted. If no Sumlin is done even if he is not fired. Pretty cut and dry.

Well, shite. I wish I hadn't read that. Anybody know how reputable this writer is? Any reason to challenge his angle?

Yeah it's abundantly clear Sumlin is done if we suck this year. Recruiting will be reset again with a good hire. If not...well, may be a good idea to find a new hobby for a decade or so.

It is not abundantly clear. The truth is actually the opposite. I doubt the AD(s) and donors would let Sumlin hire this staff if they planned on firing him. We have a former UCLA QB coach as a QC. That is a bunch of money to be paying a non-position coach. They would have probably also forced Sumlin to promote an OC from his current staff like they had before, when they were unsure if he was going to leave for the NFL.

He's a regional analyst (SEC mainly from what I've seen) who was here for Nikes events. No reason to think he has an angle from what I've seen. Sumlin not having/building relationships is what stood out to me in that article. Idk why he doesn't/can't build them but all I know about sumlin comes from when he speaks to the media and he's an arrogant arse then so...

If we don't have a good season next year Sumlin is done, that is clear. There is no way recruiting recovers from a bad season under Sumlin, he is out of hope to sell. And he isn't the kind of coach to start mining diamonds in the rough and win with three stars he coached up and developed. Without decent recruiting he is done.

What isn't clear is if we will stick with Sumlin for a lame duck season after that because of money or infighting or what-have-you or if we will let him go. But either way without say 9 plus wins his tenure here is effectively over.

I expect 10 wins, so I think we will be fine.
